When using "Find related messages in this conversation", Advanced Find pops-up. How to stop this?

Before recent update, whenever I would right click an email and select "Find related messages in this conversation", the search would be conducted in the current window, with the preview pane available and a list of all found emails on the center pane.

This was great, as I would scroll through the findings and preview the emails easily and quickly.

After recent update, every time I try to use the "Find related..." function, it pops-up the Advanced Find window and gives me the results.

This forbids me to use the preview pane and have the standard functions of the main Outlook window.

Is there a way to disable this?

(I am at ease in doing so in regedit).

    Hi Carlos,

I tried to recreate the profile, no success.

However, I've come to realize that there's something wrong with the search function of my Outlook.

When focused on the search bar, and the ribbon changes to Search Tools, all options in Refine are grayed out and shows the following messages:

    "This command is currently disabled.

This command is not available because Windows Desktop Search is not installed or is disabled".

However, Windows Search service is up and running and I'm fully able to search for many components in Windows.

    Indexing is also working fine.

    And here is a picture.

The Advanced Find just pops-up right after right clicking on an email and selecting "Find related messages in this conversation".

    Hi Marvin,

    Thanks for your reply.

I tried the Office Repair and it did not solve the issue.

    Attached is my current version.

Answering your question: when typing words in the search box, it does not open the Advanced Find. The search is performed on the same window with results showing after pressing enter (as per option I have enforced).

    It works normally.

It is exclusively the "Find related messages..." that open the Advanced Find.

    Hi Patrick,

I've tested in all the latest versions of Outlook in Monthly Channel, Semi-Annual Channel and Semi-Annual (Targeted) Channel, but failed to reproduce this issue. In this scenario, please refer to Office 365 update history to further confirm if it's the latest version. On another front, please try to run Office Repair to check if it helps.

And if the issue persists, I'd like to collect the screenshot of your Outlook client version via File > Office Account > About Outlook. Meanwhile, if you type words in the search box to search emails, will the Advanced Find window pop up?

    Regards,

    Marvin

    Hi Patrick,

I have tested on the same version, but still cannot reproduce the issue. In this situation, please open Outlook in safe mode and check if the issue persists. For your reference:

Besides, could you please know the type of your account? (IMAP, POP, or Exchange) And would you mind provide a screenshot of the issue?

    Regards,

    Carlos
