I got 3 mails from no-reply@microsoft.com this morning and they said my account is now due for re-validation.

Are they scam?

    Hi,

    Thanks for contact us:

    Do not trust it.

    Check this out:

    https://www.hoax-slayer.net/re-validate-your-ma...

    Outline:

Email purporting to be from ‘Your Domain Admin’ claims that your email account has exceeded its storage limit and you must therefore open an attached file to re-validate your mail box.

    Brief Analysis:

The email is not from any domain or webmail admin and the claim that you must validate your account is untrue. The email is a phishing scam designed to steal your email account login credentials.

    In addition:

That is a phishing scam. Realistically, Outlook has unlimited storage as it expands the more you use your account. Take note that the link that was given to you is directed to a link shortener, and you don't really know where it will go.

Finally, if you do not see a GREEN SHIELD icon next to the email sender, then it is not a Trusted Sender marked by Microsoft.

It's best that you mark the email that you receive as Junk, and don't click on the links given to you there.

    See reference:

    Regards,

    Victor

    Hello Haejin_L

Without seeing the email address involved and more specifically what the underlying URL's are related to the links in the message, it's not possible to definitively state whether this is a phishing scam or not BUT just going by the description, very likely that it is.

#1 - To verify the links in the message - hover over the link and see where it actually points to OR right-click on the link, select <Copy> and paste the result in any text editor. If it doesn't point to a legit MS website, it's a phishing scam and should be deleted

#2 - You can't simply go by the <From> email address since that can be easily spoofed to make it "appear" to be legitimate
