How to get webcal calendar to actually display events?

So at my university we are given an webcal link that can be used to subscribe to the calendar and access it from other calendar services like outlook.

These are the instructions that I am following:

  • Signing in to outlook
  • Clicking on calendar icon
  • Clicking on import
  • Pasting the link (webcal://calendars.hull.ac.uk/tcs/Stucal.asp?p1=PRIVATEID)

Although a message is displayed that the calendar has been imported successfully, no events show up. Not after an hour, not after a day, not after a month.

Its frustrating because other services like google can subscribe to it but they cant display the events in the windows 10 task bar and logon screen like outlook calendars can.

Oh, but the cherry on the cake. If I use the outlook windows 10 app. The import is successful and the events show in the outlook windows 10 app. The only problem is that the imported calendars don't sync across over to the web version of calendar and nor are they displayed in the windows 10 taskbar or logon screen.

Some other things that I've tried include:

  • Unsubscribing from the webcal from all other calendar services so that outlook is the only one subscribed to it.
  • Making a brand new Microsoft outlook account and importing through the website.
  • Unsubscribing and resubscribing a bunch of times.
  • Moving the imported calendar into a different group.

None of which worked. I would be over the moon if someone could give a solution to this. Thank you.

What does this mean? Could requesting a new calendar link from the university and then adding it again possibly work?

    >>

Best guess, no, it won't help. It might be worth a try though.

Gmail doesn't provide an ics to imported calendars, only a public link which starts with http but also doesn't work on import in outlook.

I checked my calendar before I suggested it and was sure the one calendar was imported. Time to delete all the calendars and add one back.

Yeah, if you want it on the calendar panel in windows 10, you need to add it to Outlook.com.

It sounds like there is some corruption in the feed that outlook.com can't handle and can't repair. It could be an unsupported recurrence pattern.

Can you get an ics url for it from the gmail calendar? Try adding that to outlook.com.

    >>This is outlook that comes with the Office suite?

Yes it the one that comes with Office suite.

    >>do the events show up?

Yes they show up in the office suit calendar display and it the settings under internet calendar.

The problem being that they don't show up online at www.outlook.live.com nor do they show up in the task bar or the logon screen.

Online calendars aren't synced by microsoft and they have to be added seperately on the site. When I import on the site again, the events dont show up like they do on the outlook desktop app.

    Hi bortex,

    >> outlook windows 10 app

This is outlook that comes with the Office suite?

If you add the calendar to Outlook desktop as an internet calendar - File, Account Settings, open the account settings dialog, Internet calendar - do the events show up?
