Dear,

I would like to know how I can open a .csv attachment from an email from the outlook app from O365 Business using the excel app installed on my iphone.

Now, it always open the .csv attachment using Quick View but not using the excel app.

Appreciate if any help on this issue can be provided.

Thanks.

This is very helpful as far as it goes. On my iPad, I want to dictate a Notes or other text file, I would dictate things like title, author, date. I would dictate a comma between these values. I would dictate New Paragraph or New Line to create the next CSV record. So the notes/text file is in CSV format.  But is it recognizable as such? I want Excel for iOS to import this file. How do I make this file importable to Excel for iOS?

Can I import this file directly into Excel for iOS?  Or do I need to make this file an attachment in email and open it in Outlook?

The information you have provided so far has been valuable, letting me know that a CSV file can be imported into Excel for iOS. Now I need to tie it all together.  Can you give a step-by-step guide from beginning to end — dictate, recognize as CSV, hand off to Excel for iOS?  I want to do all these steps on my ipad.

Thanks for any information on this!

    Dear Bob,

    The case is like this.

My company is using O365 for Business and I use the outlook app installed in an iphone and login to my company account to read an email with a .csv attachment. When I click on the attachment, the iphone automatically open up the attachment using the quick view instead of the excel app which is also installed in the iphone.

Attached below is the email showing the .csv attachment and the screen showing that the file is opened using Quick View instead of the Excel app. I've no way, or I don't know how to use the Excel app to open it. I've no option to save or copy the attachment even if I click and hold on the attachment.

For the sample.csv provided, I open it by clicking the link from gmail, it will prompt me to view or download. If I choose to view, then it also open the file with quick view. If I choose download, the file can be opened using the excel app when I click on the download file as shown.

    Please help.

    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Francis

    Hi Francis_0417,

Thank you for posting this to the Community Forum. I hope you're doing good today. Let's try to me try to assist you with your question on how to open a .CSV file using an iPhone on an Excel app for iOS.

I tried replicated your issue but I was not successful because it opened the .CSV file on an Excel app for iOS. I want to know more about the issue, did you make changes to the settings of your device when it comes to opening .CSV files? Have you tried downloading a .CSV file and saving it to your iOS device, then you opened it directly using Excel app not opening it as an attachment in Outlook?

Please send us a screenshot of the issue so we can have a clear understanding of the issue. Here is a sample .CSV file, please use your iOS device to open the file using Excel app. Then send us a screenshot, for us to have an idea of the situation.

    We'll wait for your response.

    Bob
