Send/Receive

I'm using Outlook in Office 365. How do I ensure that nothing comes in or goes out without my clicking on Send/Receive. I've unchecked the Send/Receive option as regards sending immediately on connection and unchecked the group settings concerning automatic send/receive. I should be grateful for any advice offered.

    Hello MervynFrance1,

    My name is Alex. I'm an Independent Advisor and I'll be glad to help you today.

    When you only want to receive your email automatically and what to be completely in control when the messages are sent, then you can disable the automatic sending for the default send/receive group:

    > Open the Send/Receive Settings dialog:

    • Keyboard shortcut
    • CTRL+ALT+S
    • Tools-> Options…-> tab Mail Format-> button: Send/Receive…
    • tab Send/Receive-> button Send/Receive Groups-> Define Send/Receive Groups

    > Press: Edit…

    > Here select your account and disable the option: Send mail items

    > Press OK to close the current dialog.

    > Press New…

    > You’re prompted for a name. Give it a name such as; Send Only

    > In the dialog enable the accounts that you want to control by enabling;

    > Include the selected account in this group

    > Make sure only the “Send mail items” option is selected.

    > Press OK to close the current dialog to return to the Send/Receive Groups dialog.

    > Disable the option: Schedule an automatic send/to receive every x minutes.

    > Press Close and then OK to close the remaining dialogs.

    Don’t send emails directly

    Now messages will only send when you press the Send/Receive button.

    Or you can also check this link.

    Change send/receive group settings

    I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any further questions.

    Sincerely,

    Thank you for your prompt reply. I can see where I need to edit (when I decide exactly what I want for my various mail boxes). Thanks a lot.

    Hello Alex. I'm still having a bit of trouble. I've set up a new group with the account I want to control and changed the setting by clearing the box relating to receiving mail. Sometimes it works and sometimes messages are downloaded before I press Send/Receive. Is there and explanation/cure for this? Sorry to trouble you again.
