other members of a group are getting the responses to meeting invites sent by owner to a single member of the group

I have a new Group with a few users. When the owner of the group sends a calendar invite, members of the group are getting the responses. The calendar invites are being sent from the owner’s email account, to a member of the group but not the group itself, and not as, by, or on behalf of the group.

The meetings are created on the owner/sender’s calendar, not on the group calendar. They're accepted on the recipient's calendar, and not being added to the group calendar.

In one example, the group owner invited me to a meeting. We are both members of the group, but she sent the invite from her address to mine, and the group was not anywhere in the meeting. The other two group members both got an email when I clicked ‘accept’ on the invite.

What’s going on?

    Hello AdamRiceAAAAAAAAA,

Thanks for your post in Microsoft community. Regarding your issue, does this issue occurs all the time or just one time occurs?

To narrow down this issue, we request you to kindly run message trace report for that meeting invitation email and accept invitation email. To run message trace report, you need to contact your O365 admin and ask him to follow the below steps.

    • To do so: Login with Global Admin account in O365à Exchange admin center ->  Mail Flow ->Message trace ->  add the sender, recipient email is and select the date range (once message trace report open, select the trace, open it and share the detail information)

Kindly run two message trace report:

    • First for meeting invitation email > select sender and select date range (once report generated, check the reports with meeting subject line and check if it delivered to other two members of the group) > kindly collect screenshot for your generated report, open such individual entry , capture screenshot and share with us.
    • Second is for meeting acceptance email > select sender and select date range and based on subject line collect all the information.

Please provide above all requested information via the Private Message, so we can help to check further.

Also kindly check if is there any forwarding rule is set up one that group member (whose acceptance email delivered to other group of members)

    Thanks and regards,

    Ankita Vaidya
