I am having the same issue i have reset my password multiple times. I just got the email 5 times in the last 30 mins.
Password reset code request recieved though I did not request one.
Hi,
It appears to be genuine and originated from ******@accountprotection.microsoft.com - is this valid and if so why did I recieve this email as I have made no such request?

We could not see any email addresses in this forum for security purposes. I'm sorry if I did not tell you that right off the bat but if it's legit, then Microsoft detected an unusual sign-in attempt for your account.
I suggest you check all the recent login attempts by clicking this link:
https://account.live.com/Activity
The Recent Activity page shows you when and where you've used your Microsoft account within the last 30 days. You can expand any listed activity to see location details and find out how the account was accessed—using a web browser, phone, or another method.

If you see any successful attempts that you don't recognize them, I recommend you to change your password and update your security settings.

Please read the originating email address in my original post. It looks legit - hence my question - I am fully aware of phishing tactics but this looks to be from MS hence my concern... It happened two weeks ago also, when I changed my Password (i didn't use any links but logged in to the website to do this change myself) just do not want this to be a re-occurring thing.

Yes I was thinking that it was phishing however the email is a legit address. I
have been ignoring the emails and going through the direct password change via my acct and it is the same email address that is sending the originating email that began my
concerns. I came here to see if it was something others were seeing or if i was being hacked.

Microsoft takes account security very seriously. If you receive an email from the Microsoft account team and the email address domain is @accountprotection.microsoft.com, it is safe to trust the message and open it. Microsoft uses this domain to send email notifications about your Microsoft account. These notifications can include security codes for two-step verification and account update information, such as password changes.
If you received an email to reset your password from a different email address, I'm afraid that might be a phishing email. A phishing email is an email that seems to be from Microsoft but is actually an attempt to get your personal information or steal your money. Please do not click on any links in that email.
