I use Outlook Hotmail.  My computer has version 10 of Mail.  It is not the Microsoft Office Mail. There are no toolbars.  There is a blue column which has Inbox, Sent, Deleted etc.  Another white column shows content of emails.

I have a number of folders where I file my messages.  These are the emails that have disappeared.

I hope you can help me.

    Hello ChristineMcInnes

You posted your question in the Outlook on the web (Outlook.com) forum focused on accessing an Outlook.com account via your browser but your question appears to be related to the Outlook desktop program (part of Office) so going to assume that to be the case for the sake of this response.

***there is no <View Tab> in Outlook on the web nor is there one in the Windows 10 Mail app In the off-chance that's the program you are using.

Since I also don't know which version of Outlook this is in reference to, the rest of this reply assumes a current version,

If you don't see a <View> tab, the first thing you need to check is to see whether or not it has been enabled (as per the attached screenshot)

From within Outlook, go to <File> --> <Options>

    #1 - Click on <Customize Ribbon>

    #2 - Select <Main Tabs> under <Customize Classic Ribbon>

#3 - Make sure the box is checked for <View>

If this is not what your question was about, please provide more information, preferably with a screenshot along with the version of Outlook you are using.

In the off-chance you are using the WIndows 10 Mail app, there is also no <View Tab> in that program.

So what you're describing is the Windows 10 Mail app which has your Hotmail account configured. For the record, there was no mention of anything disappearing in your original post asking about the "View tab"

In any case, just to be sure that we're on the same page, have attached a 2 part screenshot of the Win10 Mail app

#1 - Shows the emails in this example, it's showing emails as these exist in my <Focused> <Inbox>

#2 - Shows how you would display all folders that exist in this account which is done by clicking on <Folders> in the left hand pane. The folders appear in the right-hand pane. If you want to see the contents of a given folder, you just need to click on it

Now to get to the issue you added in the previous response - the "missing" folders or emails. To that end

#3 - Do the folders you're expecting appear after performing the steps in #2

#4 - If the answer is no, when you log into your Hotmail account via your browser, do you see the folders there? If no, is what you're looking for appear in the <Deleted Items> folder or the <Recovery> folder?

WIthout a complete picture of what has transpired with your account, impossible to provide an answer as to why things are missing. When was the last time you had this data or to ask this another way, was this something that was there yesterday but not today?

Please note that I'm shortly going offline so may not respond immediately to any reply but rest assured that you will get a response when I get back online (am on Eastern Daylight time - GMT-5)
