Hello, email recipients (to Gmail & Outlook) are not able to open Word attachments (encrypted) that I send. I attempted to check the settings from "Options", but I wasn't able to find anything. Please advise...thanks!

Note, you may have received a response from "Marty Smith83" with a phone number. That is computer-generated spam, a phishing attempt. Do not call that number!

    Hi Luvdoves,

Thanks for your post in here. Firstly, may I confirm how did you encrypt email messages? With S/MIME or encrypt with Microsoft 365 Message Encryption or Information Rights Management (IRM)?

To read and open a protected message, you may share the following article with the problematic recipients for their reference: How do I open a protected message?

Please ask they log into their account via the web browser and check if they can open the encrypted Word attachments in there.

Besides, we need to collect the following information for analysis:

    1. Is there any error message when they try to open the encrypted Word document? If so, please send us a screenshoot of the error message for analysis.
    2. If you send the same encrypted message to an internal recipient, can he/she open the Word document?

    Best Regards,

    Jennifer
