Emails Attachments Changing to Winmail.dat on Iphone
Something has changed and I do not know what/how, but any email attachments (documents, photos, PDFs) etc on my iPhone now come up in winmail.dat format.
I have always used this to send items from my laptop/computer that I can add to Notes on my phone or use photos to personalise my contacts details, and have never previously encountered a problem.
I have googled the problem and followed the guidance regarding HTML format all to no avail and keep going around in circles.
All in all, it is very frustrating as I am just a basic end user who now cannot do what I have always managed to do without any problem.

2021-05-20T16:31:19+00:00 Hello TheDormans,
Thank you for reaching Microsoft community.
We do understand that you would like to view properly your attachments in your iPhone but in order for us to properly assist you with your concern, it is crucial for us to be able to ask your questions to properly give you the answer and assistance needed.
- What email client are you using in your iPhone? Is it the default email client which is Mail or are you using Outlook mobile app?
- Have you tried using the Outlook mobile app to check if the issue persists there? If not yet, please go to AppStore and search for "Outlook" then install it to your phone. After that, you can go ahead and add your email address. You can check our self-help article entitled Set up the Office app and Outlook on iOS devices to learn more about it.
- Are you using outlook.com or hotmail.com account? If yes, have you check outlook.live.com using a web browser to see if the attachments have also winmail.dat extensions? For other email addresses, we also encourage you to check their perspective webmails to check if they are also having the same problem. If you do not see the problem there, there is a possibility that there is a defect or issue with the email client that you are using. If you are using the default email client which is Mail, please know that it is not a Microsoft product and it will benefit you if you consult your concern to Apple Support.
We will be waiting for your response. Please let us know if you have further questions or update to your case so we can plan our next move that will help you lead to your desired goal.
Kind regards,
Walter A.

2021-05-21T10:30:24+00:00 Many thanks for getting back to me, but this is all very much beyond me sorry!
I have taken the easy route and printed and photographed the docs on my phone then uploaded the photos into my notes which is all I wanted to do.
Very frustrating as I have never encountered this problem before, but at least I have found a solution, albeit a rather cumbersome one!
