Spectrum Business Email and Outlook

I am trying to set up my existing email on a new computer/Outlook. We have service through Spectrum Business and the settings they provide either don't work or don't match the options available to me. Help.

These are the setting I have been given for IMAP:

Incoming: exchange.charter-business.net

SSL

Port: 993

and requires authentication

Outgoing: smpt.charter-business.net

TLS

Port 587

Any idea what the problem is? As usual Spectrum claims that if I can access my email using their online Webmail system then the problems is not theirs to solve.

Where does it fail and with what error?

Going by your instructions; You misspelled the outgoing server name. It should be "smtp" and not "smpt".

If that was not it, the try incoming 143 with TLS and/or set outgoing to STARTTLS. One of those post and encryption combinations should work ;-) Setting the encryption to "None" might work too, but I do not recommend that.

Thankfully it wasn't just a typo. It did work when I switched to the other encryption option which goes against the instructions provided by Spectrum.  Thank you. for your help.
