Viewing People's Calendars in New Outlook for Mac

In old outlook for Mac app, I could add People's calendars (their availabilities only) in outlook calendar on the web and then that person's calendar would show up in the Other Calendars tab on the left panel of Outlook mac app.  When I made the switch to New Outlook, all the calendars are gone.  I tried removing them & re-adding in outlook calendar web, then restarting the New outlook mac app but they still are not showing up in the left panel of calendar in the app.

Is there a way to add other people's calendars in New Outlook Mac like we can in Outlook Web calendar (add calendar button).

I solved this by installing the Office365 Outlook app for mobile. Then in Outlook for mobile...

    1. Navigate to the calendar tab
    2. Click profile pic at top left
    3. Click blue plus symbol at top left
    4. Choose to Add A Shared Calendar
    5. Search for name of person
    6. Click blue plus symbol
    7. It says Adding Calendar
    8. That person's calendar shows up in your list

Now go back to your Outlook on Mac. You may need to close it then open it again. You will now see that person's calendar in your list of Shared Calendars in Outlook on Mac.

    Hi Shawn,

I switched to the "new outlook". There is no organize tab.

Also, I'm not trying to access a calendar that I have permission to have.  I am just trying to see the other person's availability for the week without having to create a new event and view scheduler.  Here's how it looks in old outlook for mac.  I can select calendars on the left and see them overlay each other and my calendar, all in one view.

    Hi Jim,

I don't believe the problem is that Outlook is a "light" version. The functionality of adding other people's folder via "File" > "Open" > "Other User's Folder..." is still there also opens the same "old" window where you can search and select the person's calendar you want to add.

The problem is that, when you select the other person's calendar and click on "Open", then the wheel starts spinning and nothing happens anymore.

In the calendar sidebar, there's also the menu item "Other people" with an "down arrow" to open. So it looks to me that the "Other User's Folder..."/calendars belong there (much like in the "old" Outlook.

What I can confirm: switching back to the "old" version works: all the calendars from other users that I had "subscribed" to are (still) there (again).

    Maybe actually a bug?

    Hello Jim,

Is there a projected time frame for when "Regular" outlook will be updated for Mac? I don't think it is clear that there is a distinction between "New/Light" Outlook and "Regular" Outlook for Mac users when the option is presented.

Thank you for any information and help you can provide.

    Hi there,

It seems like viewing other people's calendars is actually not yet possible on "new" Outlook for Mac, see https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/the-new-outlook-for-mac-6283be54-e74d-434e-babb-b70cefc77439 under "Known Issues" it states

"Shared calendars can't be added using Open Other User's Folder"

Let's hope it gets fixed soon, I really like the new look and the calendar overview in the right sidepane.

    BR
