Why are people in my contact list getting emails that look like they are coming from me but aren't from my email address?  Do I have a virus?  I have done multiple scans but nothing shows up?

If they are using a different email, but your name and contacts, then it means that the attacker gained your contact list and used their email to spam your contact list.

In this case I suggest to follow the steps provided above for Outlook and look also over other apps/programs that are installed on the device you use for checking your email and contacts (e.g. contacts apps, email related apps, etc.).

Also, I would suggest asking your contacts to report the spam emails so hopefully the attacker accounts/emails can be blocked.

This is helpful; however the email account that is sending these emails is not my own.......They use my name and contacts I have but not my email......I have run multiple virus programs and nothing shows up.  They are using a different email address than mine......still don't know what's going on or how to fix it or scan for a virus/worm.

    Hi JJB4321,

I’m Efren. I’m an Independent Advisor and Microsoft user like you. I’ll be happy to help you out today.

It seems that your account could have been hacked and someone/something is trying to send emails using your email address.

First of all, I advise you to visit the following link:

    https://account.live.com/Activity

You can also access it clicking on "Security" on the top menu under microsoft.com my account settings - https://account.microsoft.com/

Once there, you can look through the different sessions and, if you spot anything unusual, then click on "Secure my account" on that session and it will bring you to a process in order to secure your account and logout unauthorized access.

Microsoft forces you to change the password after using the feature though as this is the first step you should do in these cases.

Then, please read the following article that explains what else you can do if your account has been hacked:

    https://support.microsoft.com/office/35993ac5-a...

If you are still concern about security, you can also set up Two-step verification in the following link: https://account.live.com/proofs/manage/additional

This is a user-to-user support forum and I am a fellow user.

I hope that answers your question, but please let me know if you need anything else.

    Sincerely,

    Efren
