Exchange delegated calendars not visible in MacOS Calendar unless View All Details is set

I am able to use my MS Exchange account with native applications on Mac OS, such as Apple Mail and Calendar. However, Calendar seems to have some oddities/issues.

First, in order to see a shared calendar, the person sharing the calendar has to grant "View All Details" or it won't be visible in the Mac OS Calendar application. Other permissions like "See When I'm Busy" and "View Titles and Locations" work in other clients (iOS, Outlook, Outlook Web), but not in the MacOS Calendar.

Second, I am unable to change the color of delegated calendars from Exchange in the MacOS Calendar.

I tend to doubt whether this is an Exchange issue at all, but if anybody has any hints on how to address the above, please let me know, because Apple has been singularly unhelpful in the matter.

PS. I'd have asked this in the Exchange area, except...there doesn't seem to be one? So, Outlook is the closest I could find.

    Hello DelegatorNH,

Based on your post, have checked at our end and found the same result as yours. It seems it should be compatibility issue between Mac calenadr app and Microsoft365 shared calenadr because we can access this shared calenadr in Outlook client apps from different platform (such as iOS, Outlook web app). Since both issue is relates with Mac native calenadr app, so suggest to please kindly check with apple support team again. From our end, we will also search further and if we found any further information, we will post back here accordingly.

Further during our test, we have observed that if one user’s full access delegation permission is assigned to another user, then that other user can open such delegated calenadr from Mac calenadr native app. You may try with this but please note that full access delegation permission is not limited with calenadr , it allow to access entire mailbox.

    • For Full access permission : Open Exchange Admin Center (EAC) > select user from Recipient > click on edit option and selecting mailbox delegation. Under Full access, add another user’s mailbox account to whom you wants to give full permission. (Note: This should not be confused with the “Delegate” type of permissions granted via Outlook. They are not the same types of permissions.)

Once delegation permission is assigned from admin center, wait for some time to sync up the data and then open calenadr native app to add such delegated user’s calenadr.

    • Open calenadr native app from Mac > open accounts > select delegation tab and add such delegated useraccount id (on which you have delegation permission assigned) and select it to see the difference.

Your kind understanding and co-operation will be highly appricated. Thanks you so much for your valuable time.

    Regards,

    Ankita Vaidya
