Outlook 365 sending e mails from a sky account

I have just installed Outlook 365 and linked to my sky e mail address. After much difficulty with obtaining the 16 character authorisation code I finally started to receive my emails. Today I wanted to send an e mail but I immediately receive an e mail from a systems admin stating an error code 550 request failed mailbox unavailable.

I am not very computer savvy but I assume i have a server setting somewhere incorrect.

Can anyone help me with the correct server settings for sky e mail. or tell me what i have set up incorrectly

Thanks

The test comes back Ok. I am really struggling now.

It got worse. Changing these settings seems to have lost all the folders I had set up with my e mails I wanted to keep. The folders have all disappeared. I tried to return to the old settings but they have not comeback.

    Hi Steve,

When you press the "Test Account Settings" button, what does it report?

    Kindest regards,

    Neil

    Neil hi

Thanks for the quick reply. Everything was going OK until I changed the port numbers and it then failed. When I returned them to the old port numbers the system updated OK but I still cannot send anything. The port numbers it had where in 993 and out 465.

The set up process likes these but send still does not work.

Hi Steve, my name is Neil, and I'm an Outlook user like you.

The correct server settings for Sky are as follows:

Incoming mail server name - Imap: imap.tools.sky.com

    Imap port: 995

Outgoing mail server name - Smtp: smtp.tools.sky.com

    Smtp port: 587

    Security: SSL

However, for a better set of instructions on how to setup your email for Outlook 365, see the following page from Sky as you will need to make sure you have done everything stated there under the heading "Computer > Outlook 365, 2016 and 2019 (Windows)": https://www.sky.com/help/articles/getting-start...

This tells you exactly how to setup your account. If you get stuck at any point, let me know and I will help you through it. I will tell you now, what people usually get wrong is missing the settings in Step 6 in the instructions, so make sure you do those. Like I said, if at any point you need help, let me know.

Let me know how you get on.

    Kindest regards,

    Neil
