Recovery email for hotmail has been changed without permission to a yxa1024.com account. I fear account is compromised. I can access my hotmail inbox as it is linked to my gmail account.

However, I cannot get the password reset email sent to my hotmail inbox. Is there a way around this? I need assistance to access my hotmail account to change these details, as I am worried someone has hacked it.

Also, this microsoft website is an absolute nightmare to try to find out how to get help. Absolutely abyssal.

    Hi there,

Actually this is the problem. The advice provided doesn’t address my question.

My backup email and phone have been changed without my permission - so I fear it’s been hacked.

As such, I cannot reset my password - the recovery email and phone number is not one I know.

But - the thing is I can access the inbox for my hotmail account. It’s linked to my gmail, so I can still receive emails addressed to it, and send them under that hotmail account. I just cannot log in via the hotmail login.

I need the reset password to be sent to the same email address so I can reset it - not to the backups.

I have a email from Microsoft saying I can access chat help. But I spent seven and a half hours waiting in que for the next chat help operator. Then I had to leave work.

That is simply far too long.

Hi, I'm Keilla, an independent advisor and an Outlook user like you.

For cases like yours, Microsoft provides an article with instructions on how you might be regaining access to your account.

I recommend that you try the methods in the sequence that the article indicates, if one method doesn't work, move on to the next one.

    Hope this helps.

Please let me know if you have any further questions. If you have a moment, it would be greatly appreciated if you would rate my assistance in handling your ticket and have a great day!
