Disable Hardware acceleration option move?

Anonymous

I installed the latest Microsoft Office build, Version 2107 Build 4228.20226, and now the option to disable hardware accelleration is gone or has moved.

Anyone else noticing this, is there another way to disable hardware accelleration in Outlook?

Thanks,

Brandon

This is good to know that the option is deprecating. I was wondering why some machines did not have these options at all visible. plus reading the link to ms docs I better understood that some instances its off by default.

    Hi Brandon,

Have a good day. Thank you for the posting into the forum community.

As per your mentioned description, I have checked under similar Office version 2107 (14228.20226) and I can see “Disable hardware graphic acceleration” option under Advanced > Display.

    Below is my test screenshot:

    Hi Brandon,

I am writing to follow up on this thread.

According to this article: Display issues in Office client applications. - Office | Microsoft Docs

We noticed that “By default, hardware acceleration is automatically disabled in Office programs if certain video card and video card driver combinations are detected when you start an Office program.”

So, previously, we needed to manually disable it when issue happens. Now Office will automatically disable it when it detects certain video card and driver combinations in Microsoft's updating list.

    Best Regards,

    May

Likely more than that now, those figures were from a report roughly the end of June. The point being the setting in Options is going away.

    Hi Brandon,

    Thank you for reply.

Based on your mentioned description, could you please provide us detailed screenshot page "disable hardware acceleration in Excel but not Word, Outlook or Powerpoint"?

    • May I please re-confirm from your side that whether you can see this option under previous Office version?
    • Whether you are using Microsoft 365 Business subscription or any other Office subscription in your machine?

At once, please kindly do repair an Office application and try to check that if it gives any different result or not.

Note: Before Online Repair, please take a back up of whole Office data for data loss prevention.

    Regards,

    Darpan
