Hi Sheila,
Glad to help you here.
First of all, OST file folders are generally marked with “This Computer Only” because of which it sometimes becomes difficult to synchronize them. There is not a particularly defined way by which we can open the OST files by converting the OST to PST files we can surely make changes to them.
In view of the issue, the way to convert OST to PST can help you open an inaccessible, orphaned, or encrypted OST file.
- Go to your Installed Outlook application and below the file section that is present on the top left move to Open & Export >> Import/Export.
- Select the action Import from another program or file and hit on the Next Button Present on the below of the page.
- Now, move with creating a file of type Outlook Data file (.PST) option and press NEXT.
- Choose the email subfolders such as Inbox, Sent Items, Drafts, Archive, etc. but, one folder at one time, tick on the filter that says include subfolders then move to Next step. By this, you will be able to add OST file to Outlook.
- Go to the browse option, choose a location to save the output file, and click on the finish button to convert OST to PST file.
- Now, you will see a dialogue box that allows you to encrypt your PST file. You can protect your PST file or can simply leave this step and move forward.
- Finally, Outlook OST files started to Move into PST data files.
- Once the OST files are migrated to the PST file you can make amendments to it by entering the passcode that is used by you to lock the files.
Also please refer to: Open or import items from an offline Outlook Data File (.ost) (microsoft.com).
Hope that this answers your concern. If you have any questions about this issue or I misunderstand your meaning, please feel free to reply and I will answer for you. Thank you very much.
Regards,
Rebecca
