Outlook - How to track messages to which I expect a response

Hello,

I send a fair amount of emails that get no reply. I am looking for a feature of Outlook, or more likely an add-on, that will automatically remind me when any message that I've sent has not received a response **from the recipient**. Gmail does this automatically when a message that I've sent goes unanswered, but I cannot figure out a way to get Outlook to do it.

I primarily use Outlook 2016. I would use Microsoft Online / 365, though, if it could do this and 2016 cannot.

In an effort to save time and effort on the part of anyone reading it, here is what I do NOT want (I have found ways to do all of the following):

  • I am NOT looking for something that will remind me when *I* haven't responded to a message I've received
  • I am NOT looking for something that will flag every message and keep it flagged even after I get a response
  • I am NOT looking for a way for me to manually flag messages to which I want a response

Thank you in advance!!

    Hi Sloane

    Greetings

Thank you for choosing Microsoft Community.

Checked the Outlook tracking options and unfortunately, the only options are the delivery receipt and the read receipt.

However after doing some research I found an add in, that lets you track activity on emails you have sent, which helps you automatically  remind you when you don’t hear back from an email you sent. The add-in is called Boomerang, which can be used in your Outlook.

Please try it out and feel free to let me know how it goes .

    Kind Regards,

    Momo

You are not the only one! This would be an excellent feature for all of us who work in a culture where communication is all through email.

I liked Boomerang, but I am with you, I need AI to give me the nudge.

I know people who use the method of CCing themselves and so if you have an email in your inbox that is from you (and you are filtered by conversations) then you haven't received a response.

Microsoft please create this or add it to VIVA or something!

    Hi Momo,

Boomerang is working great except it isn't free. It turns out that Boomerang only lets users perform this email tracking function on 10 emails per month, before it starts charging money. I need to track many dozen emails every month. I ended up paying for Boomerang for a month... but I do not like spending my hard-earned money on work expenses.

Do you know of any *free* method / add-on that will remind me when any message that I've sent has not received a response?

    Thank you!!!

Hello! Sorry for not responding sooner. I kept getting error messages when I tried to post a response. Thank you so much for your time and assistance!! I downloaded the Boomerang add-on! I just added it so I haven't had a chance to see any of the emails pop back up (yet), but I am quite optimistic!

I was hoping to have an add-on where I wouldn't have to manually tell it that I want to be nudged about Every Single Email that I want to be reminded about if no one responds. But Boomerang will be good enough, I hope, because with time I will get in the habit of selecting it Every Single Time I send an email about which I need a response.
