Where does Outlook for Mac keep pst files?

When I moved over from Windows based outlook, I imported my PST folders of saved emails into Outlook for Mac. I have been saving new emails in there, but when I look at the PST files I imported in finder, it does not have a recent date showing I have modified it. So, this makes me think outlook has stored the PST files somewhere else and is updating them. Anyone know what's going on?

    Hi Trishia,

First of all, the folders of saved emails into Outlook for Mac named OLM, and the folders of saved emails into Outlook for Windows named PST.

I want to ask whether the path you import pst. is correct or not, you may refer to: Import a .pst file into Outlook for Mac from Outlook for Windows (microsoft.com).

You may find the OLM profile in this way:

Outlook 2016 for Mac caches your mail items in a profile in your home folder at the following location:

    ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/Outlook/Outlook 15 Profiles/Main Profile/Data.

Your understanding and cooperation will be highly appreciate.

    Regards,

    Rebecca

    Hi Trishia,

OK. I'll search and test it. Don't worry. I'll do more research and answer for you.

    Thanks! I found the files.

Do you know how I can import those emails and folders into the new version of outlook if I convert?

I want the features of the new outlook, but I also need to have those emails and folders be accessible in outlook.

I'm afraid to convert over until I know how to handle those folders.

    Hi Trishia,

According to my test, you can't see those folders when switching to the new Outlook, but those folders were not be deleted. Maybe the new version of Outlook for Mac has limited functions, so I suggest you switch to the old version and find those folders according to the path: ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/Outlook/Outlook 15 Profiles/Main Profile/Data.

Also, the “On My Computer” label indicates that the items in that folder are accessible only through the Outlook application, not through the Finder on your computer. Although "On My Computer" might suggest that you can find these files by searching your computer, the label only signifies that the items in the folder are not on a mail server.

    Have a good day!

    Regards,

    Rebecca

Thank you Rebecca. I did use that import function to pull my Windows PST files into MAC outlook. It created separate folders for them in outlook under a category called "on my computer".

When I try to toggle the new outlook to on, there is a warning that those folders can't be migrated into the new version. So, I'm just wondering what will happen to those folders and my latest updates to them if I select OK to that warning and move into the new outlook. Will they come over in another way? If not, how do I import them back in since my updates to those folders are no longer in the original PST files?

    Thanks!
