In SharePoint 2013 Central Administration, have set Outbound SMTP server but not working , but when we give IP address of the address it works. Why can this be happening ?

Hi,

As seen in the screenshot below, we have set the SMTP outbound server, to SMTP server value, but we are not receiving any emails.

But when we input the IP address of the SMTP server, the mail starts to come.
Have attached a screenshot of current configuration.

Suppose in Outbound SMTP server we give "smtp.net.company.com" ----> it doesn't work

But if we give IP address of SMTP server "10.0.0.0" -----> it works

Why this can be happening and what are the different troubleshoots that can be performed ?

To troubleshoot this issue, please go to Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 Manager -> Right-click the SMTP virtual server -> Properties -> Check the IP address.

I havent checked the SMTP virtual server as the server in which SMTP is configured is managed by another team.

Basically, we have one SharePoint server in which applications are hosted and another server in which SMTP is configured.

But, one thing we tried, ipconfig /flushDNS and ipconfig /registerDNS in the SharePoint server where the application is hosted, and it worked for one day. The next day the problem began again. Did flushDNS and registerDNS again, but there is no effect.
