I have to manually sync/refresh Outlook on Android to receive my mail - it's not doing it by itself. Help?

This problem didn't start until just recently (but it didn't coincide with any sort of phone update).

Outlook isn't updating my inboxes automatically on the Android app. When I open the app, my email does not sync. I have to manually drag down to "refresh"/"sync" my email, at which point I receive all changes since the last time I checked all at once.

This means that my email is not being sent to my phone real-time. It also means that I am not receiving real-time notifications of new emails in my inbox, because the email is not arriving in the Android app inbox until I manually open the app and sync it myself.

I have tried troubleshooting by using different wireless networks as well as turning off wifi and using data. In all cases, the email does not sync. My Outlook app is fully up-to-date as well, as is my phone.

Hi there, I´m Ivania and I´m glad to help you today.

The Outlook app offers a built-in reset option if emails are not syncing.

    Try this:

    -Open Outlook.

-Tap on the settings menu and then go to Settings icon.

-Open the Microsoft account that won’t sync.

    • Scroll down and tap Reset Account.

If that doesn't work, try remove and add the account again.

perform the same steps as above, instead of resetting the account, you delete it. And add it again.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the app, or update your Outlook app from the Play Store.

If you've tried restarting the app and restarting the phone, but the Outlook app still doesn't work as it should, you may need to reset the app to fix this issue.

    If you use Android:

    -Open Settings

    -Tap Storage

    -Tap Other apps

    -Tap Outlook

-Tap Clear Data and Clear Cache button to reset the app.

After completing the steps, the Outlook app will reset to its default settings and you will need to sign in to your email accounts again.

Please let me know if you solved it with these steps.

    Best regards,

    Ivania

    Hi Ivania,

I attempted resetting and deleting/re-adding my account to the app as well as clearing the cache and data and check if it worked. Unfortunately that did not solve the issue. It's possible you didn't notice in my original post, but I had already ensured the app was fully up-to-date. I reinstalled it too with no success.
