Being blocked by Microsoft Exchange administrator.

Hi. I have Office 365 and Outlook 2010. I have been using Outlook 2010 with no problems at all until today. Today I received the following message when I was trying to access my emails: "Your Microsoft Exchnge administrator has blocked the version of Oulook that you are using. Contact your administrator for assistance." I really don't like downloading new operating systems if I don't have to. Do I have to download Windows 11 to access my emails, or is there another work-around to bypass this message? Thanks so much.

This is a deplorable move on the part of Microsoft.

Tonight, not earlier, but tonight my Outlook stopped functioning.

There was NO NOTIFICATION in any way, shape, or form.

I HAVE to have Outlook functioning tomorrow, February 24th, for necessary weekly work, but do not have the time to download a new version and figure out how to work around all of the "I hate this" problems I know are going to be there this evening!!!!!

If it isn't already, this action should be illegal.

You can't pull the rug out from under folk, especially at tax season, without sufficient prior notice.

Again, THERE WAS NO NOTICE TO ANY OF MY EMAILS THAT THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN.

I need someone to unblock my Outlook until the middle of March, to give me time to switch over.

I will not purchase a new version of anything - what I have works just fine right now.

I do not have a smart phone - so don't need any of the new app upgrades or intigration.

JUST STOP AND LEAVE US ALONE AND LET US USE WHAT WORKED JUST FINE.

This is highly disappointing. With time we could have made this transition. There was no communication and you have left us with no choice. As a consultant for many companies I will be avoiding Office 365 and Microsoft products in the future. The straw that broke the camel's back.

    Edit:

Even the popup message is passive aggressive. I am my client's Exchange Admin and I had no control over this. The error should read:

"Microsoft has blocked the version of Outlook that you are using."

I forgot to mention one very important thing if you upgrade Outlook (Office) on the same machine which is that you will need to create a new Outlook profile instead of letting Outlook use the Outlook profile used by '2010 since the account is flagged in the Outlook profile and there is no way to reset it.

When you install a new version of Office on a system, the '2010 Outlook profile will be copied and used by the new version of Outlook. The steps involved in creating a new Outlook profile are

    a) - With Outlook closed open the Control Panel <Mail> app

Just in case you need info regarding how to access the Control Panel Mail app, that's described in the following article by Outlook MVP Diane Poremsky

Where is the Control Panel Mail icon?

    https://www.slipstick.com/how-to-outlook/where-...

    b) - Select <Show Profile> --> <Add> --> give the new profile a name

    c) - Configure your email account(s)

    * if you are configuring POP accounts, be sure to use the existing PST file for the account instead of letting Outlook create a new PST file

** POP accounts MUST be manually configured otherwise Outlook will configure the account using IMAP

    d) - Set the newly created Outlook profile as the default for the next time Outlook is opened otherwise it'll use the old profile

If you have any questions regarding the above, please don't hesitate to ask

    Hello Jeffdao18

Hi, I'm Karl and will be happy to help you today.

Unfortunately, it's not the operating system that you need to upgrade but rather the version of Outlook being used in order to continue using the hosted Exchange account as described in

New minimum Outlook for Windows version requirements for Microsoft 365

Will this also apply to companies running an on-premise Exchange 2016 server? Or does it only affect companies that using Microsoft hosted Exchange servers?
