Editing typos in a sent message in MS Outlook

In Outlook, after you have sent a message, if you find a typo, there are apparently two options to fix it.

  1. Double-click to open the email, and select Recall Message. Then use that function to delete the email from reaching anyone who has not yet seen that email.
  2. Double-click to open the email, and select Edit Message. Then edit the typo and click the disk icon in the upper left corder to save the edit.

I have tried using the second option, i.e. Edit Message. However, I have not found it to work in changing what the recipient sees. I have only found it to relieve me me having to continue being reminded of the typo I sent and that others are still seeing. Is there a set of conditions where the Edit Message function does in fact work in updating what the recipient will see?

    Hello PhilG698,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community.

Based on your post, we have checked from our side and seems after sending email, if you would like to modified that sent email and select “Edit message” option, that changes will only reflect on your side (sender side), it will not update on recipient side because in that Edit message option, outlook have only save option and don’t have send option, as a result, it will not reflect on recipient side.

We do understand your concern, so have also do some more research at our side and seems besides Recall message, at this moment there is no such option or set of conditions that meet your requirements. For the future prospect, we recommend to kindly submit your valuable feedback to our Outlook product development feedback team via Outlook Feedback community site, that site is created to collect users’ feedback for Outlook. At this point, your kind understanding and cooperation will be highly appreciated.

Thank you so much for your precious time. Stay safe and healthy.

    Sincerely,
