Go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings. Data files tab - click Add. Then Set it as the Default data file and restart outlook. Set up iCloud, go back into settings and change the default back top the IMAP ost file and restart outlook then go back into settings and remove the pst.
Setup cannot continue because Outlook isn’t configured to have a default profile
Hi all,
I am trying to sync my Outlook Calendar and contacts to my iPhone by using iCloud. I am using Windows 11, and I have downloaded iCloud for Windows through the Microsoft store.
When I try to setup the sync (I have Mail, Calendar, Contacts checked) I end up getting an error saying “Setup cannot continue because Outlook isn’t configured to have a default profile”. I have already checked the Outlook profile, and I only have the one which is the default. I know there is an article about this issue but I don’t see why I have to repair Office. Has anyone come across this issue and can you provide a solution. Thanks.

2022-03-14T19:14:12+00:00 Hello Josh,
I'm Diane, an Office Apps & Services MVP specializing in Outlook, and I’m happy to help you today.
Repairing office should only take a few minutes - quick repair should be sufficient - but if you are using the windows store version or an IMAP account, repair won't fix it.
If you have an IMAP account and no pst file, try adding a pst file and set it as default data file. After iCloud is set up, you can remove it.
What version and build of office are you using? Does it say "(windows store)" after the version number?

Thank you for your response.
Yes that’s correct, I am using an IMAP account and it’s the only account I have setup in my Outlook (and it’s on the default Outlook profile). I will try the solution as you mentioned. Could you possibly provide a step by step guide on how to add the pst file and remove it after iCloud is setup?
Also, if you are talking about the file for the Outlook profile, I believe it is an ost file.
