Trying to add email account to Outlook Microsoft 365 stuck on We're getting things ready

I have Microsoft 365, and am trying to add an email account to the Outlook app. I am using manual configuration using IMAP settings, but every time I try to add a new email account (and I've tried on two different computers) I just get "We're getting things ready" and it never goes anywhere.

I was able to add email accounts to the Outlook app previously, but now that I've changed web hosts and need to add new email accounts I'm getting nowhere.

    Hi again, I've managed to get it to add the email accounts, but I had to do it in a slightly different way than you suggested.

    Instead of going to Show Profiles, I went to Email Accounts - New - Manual Setup. For some reason that added the email accounts to my Outlook app, whereas the way you suggested to do it set up the accounts but didn't get them to show up in the Outlook app. No idea why!

    But thanks so much for showing me where to look in Control Panel, since that was not a tip I had found anywhere else when searching online. Thanks again!

    Thanks, RY. I've done as you suggested, and I've received the test email message to my Hotmail account (since I have forwarding set up on my Siteground webmail, I assume) to say that the account was set up ok - but the email account is not showing up in my Outlook app on my PC. I've tried restarting my computer but the email account is still not in Outlook app. I don't know where the test message came from, or where the email account has gone!

    Have you tried to add this email account thru mail settings in Control Panel?

    If not yet, please follow below steps:

    1. Open Control Panel and look for "Mail (Microsoft Outlook)"
    2. Under Mail settings, click on "Show Profiles..."
    3. Click on "Add...", then put any name for this new Outlook profile
    4. Choose "Manual setup or additional server types" then click Next
    5. Select "POP or IMAP" then put necessary details
