How do I make a copy of Office Outlook Contacts / Address Book?

I want to transfer the Contacts / Address Book from Office Outlook 2013 on one computer to Office Outlook 2019 on another computer. All my previous attempts to create a backup of the Contacts / Address Book, so that it can be loaded into another Address Book, have failed. I am getting fed up of having to type them all in again.

Please can you help me?

Before you import contacts, you need to create a new address book folder in Outlook 2019 in advance. To do this, create a folder under Contacts, and then make that folder an address book.

    1. Select the People tab at the bottom of your Outlook screen. The People tab is at the bottom of your Outlook screen.
    2. On the Home tab, under My Contacts, right-click the Contacts folder, and then click New Folder. Under My Contacts, right-click the Contacts folder.
    3. In the Create New Folder dialog box, name the folder, select where to place it, and then click OK. It’s probably best to place the new folder in the Contacts folder.
    4. To make sure your folder is available as an address book, right-click the new folder, and then click Properties. Right-click the new folder, and then click Properties.
    5. Click the Outlook Address Book tab, and make sure that the check box for Show this folder as an e-mail Address Book is selected. Ensure that the check box for "Show this folder as an e-mail Address Book" is selected.
    6. Confirm that the new contacts folder was added as an address book. From your Inbox, click the Home tab > Address Book. The Address Book is on the right side of the Home tab. In the Address Book dialog box, verify that the address book you just created appears in the Address Book list. Your new address book appears in the Address Book dialog box in the Address Book drop-down list.

After you create the new address book in Outlook 2019, you can now import contacts. When you need to select a destination folder for the contacts, be sure to choose the newly created address book folder.

When you complete all the steps, you should be able to find the contacts in the new address book and search within the address book.

    Hello again.

When I click on the Address Book I get a blank page.

Then when I do a search, in this case on the letter s, I get all the s's, as shown in the screenshots.

    Hello, mjw_921

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

As Palcouk says, address book is just a folder under Contacts, not a separate file, so there is no way to export/back up an address book and move it to another device. If you just want to import contacts from Outlook 2013 to Outlook 2019, you can follow these steps:

    1. Export contacts from Outlook 2013. When you export your contacts from Outlook, a copy of your contacts is saved to a CSV file, or other file type. You can then use this file to import your contacts to another email account.
    2. Import contacts to Outlook 2019. If you are having problems importing contacts, see Fix problems importing contacts to Outlook.

If the problem still can't be solved, please let us know, and we'll figure out another workaround.

    Best regards

The address book is simply a filter of Contacts that have an electronic address it is not a seperate file

What type of mail account are you using, pop or IMAP? If IMAP Calendar/People are in folders marked This PC Only and are lost if the mail account is reset on that PC
