I'm trying to set outlook to open minimized to the system tray. This is primarily because I don't like a bloaty desktop with a bunch of GUI stuff popping up everywhere when I'm booting the machine.

I'm currently running Microsoft® Outlook® for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2301 Build 16.0.16026.20002) 64-bit

Microsoft Windows 11 Pro

Version 10.0.22621 Build 22621

Outlook | Windows | Classic Outlook for Windows | For business

Hi Arif, I appreciate you taking the time to help me. I found the shortcut file to "OUTLOOK.EXE" - right clicked it, selected properties, selected the "Shortcut" tab, inserted '/minimized' at the end of the text in the "target" field, at this point I received an error message. I believe that inserting '/minimized' in the "target" field will mess up the path to the .exe file. I've attached a screenshot of the error below.

    Thanks again,

    Chad.

Greetings! My name is Arif, and I will assist you today.

    1. By changing its properties, Microsoft Outlook's startup behavior can be altered. You can use the following steps to configure Outlook to launch with a minimized window in the system tray:
    2. Select "Properties" from the context menu by right-clicking the Microsoft Outlook shortcut on your desktop or in the Start menu.
    3. Add the following command line switch at the end of the current text in the "Target" field:

    /minimized

    1. To save the changes, click "OK."
    • Outlook will now start minimized to the system tray when you launch it. You can access it by clicking on its icon in the system tray.

    Warm Regards,

    Arif.
