Why can't I block junk emails? Microsoft 365 Outlook.

I have always monitored and blocked junk email that gets through the Junk filter by blocking either the email address or blocking just the domain. Beginning a few days ago I get junk emails in my inbox that DO NOT display the From address so I cannot block that sender. If I select Block Sender nothing happens. What changed or what did I do? I do still get lots of junk emails in the Junk folder.

If those spam with no sender (or blank sender) gets into your Inbox, try this rule to auto delete them:

That should delete all email except those with an @ sign in the email address. All legitimate email addresses contain @ sign so they won't be deleted.

Thank you. Since I had the same problem on 2 PC's I didn't think rules was a good solution. I did some more research and found the same problem in another group discussion and refreshing the VIEW solved the problem. That discussion said Microsoft was aware of the problem but hasn't solved it yet. So I refreshed the VIEW on one computer and solved the problem.

Hello Jimthedummy! My name is Janbaz, and I am an Independent Advisor.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this problem, and I hope I can assist you to find a satisfactory solution.

One of the possible reasons why you are encountering this problem is that there are corrupted cache/cookies/browsing history stored in your browser. As an initial troubleshooting step, I recommend that you clear your browser's cache/cookies/browsing history.

It's conceivable that the spam emails you're receiving in your inbox employ the "spoofing" technique, which involves forging the email header to conceal the genuine sender's details. Due to this, it may be challenging to block the sender using conventional techniques, such as blocking by email address or domain.

You might also be able to set up a rule to move emails that satisfy certain requirements directly to your Junk Email bin in addition to banning by email address or domain. This is how you accomplish it in Outlook:

    1. Choose "Rules" > "Create Rule" from the context menu when you right-click on a message that you wish to block but that doesn't show the From address.
    2. Choose the "Subject includes" or "Message body contains" criteria you want to use in the "Create Rule" dialog box to mark the message as spam.
    3. After choosing your criteria, check the box next to "Move the item to folder" and choose "Junk Email" as the destination folder for the message.
    4. To create the rule, click "OK".

So you're saying the spam does have sender (from) address. It's just not showing until you 'refresh VIEW'? If that's the case, the rule I posted before won't help.
