Lost hotmail account - possible Bitcoin leftovers

Hi everyone!

I've been trying to recover my long lost hotmail account.

Here is the thing:

I was one of the first Bitcoin miners more than a decade ago (or so), and I remember I registered to multiple websites that offered holding and trading Bitcoins there and also sites where they accepted bitcoin.

I also remember, that at that time Bitcoin was practically worthless, so I didn't put much hope to it.

I was arround 18 or 19 years old back then, and keeping records and remembering passwords wasn't my priority at that time.

I can also recall at some point I invested 50€ in Bitcoin and within a few days they were worth 3€ or so, so I frustrated and abandoned it. I believe my login details are in that hotmail account.

Any hope for me to recover?

I still have my hotmail address, but cant login. I can even find my comments on public websites that I left with that hotmail address.

Looking forward for an answer or some advice that will head me to the right direction.

Thank you and best regards!

No worries at all. I'm happy to provide any help. :)

Although, as much as I would like to give you any good news, I'm afraid what I have is rather not so good.

When an account becomes inactive for at least two years, they are automatically closed and cannot be reclaimed or recovered. Please see article below for reference.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/micro...

In the event that the account remains open, the user will be prompted to fill in the Account Recovery form, which I believe you already went through. As this is fully automated, no one, not even Microsoft support is able to recover the account for you. If this fails continuously, the account is effectively gone.

Very sorry to have to give you this news.

    Hi,

the last time I successfully loged in was probably 10 or more years ago.

I can find emails sent from this lost account sent to my current account from 2008.

When I try to log in, the machine says I tryed to log in with wrong passwords too many times (I'm trying to log in from 2017) and that it is restricted.

When I want to reset my password, I get the response to my current email:

"We recently received a request to restore your Microsoft account **********@hotmail.com. Unfortunately, we were unable to verify your ownership of this account using the information you provided. At Microsoft, the security and privacy of our customers comes first. Because we want to protect your personal information, we do everything we can to make sure that you are the owner of the account."

I think it can easily be confirmed, with a little effort. I used that hotmail to register to social platforms and other platforms that we used as a teenagers.

    Thank you! Regards

Hi Eberis! This is Raech. I'm an Outlook.com user like you and I'm sorry to hear about the issue you are having.

Could you please provide further details about the login issue? Are you receiving any specific login error?

Also, when was the last time you had successfully signed in?

Hi Eberis. Thank you for your reply.

I see that you have marked my response as not helpful. Just so there is no misunderstanding, this is a public user-to-user community forum. None of us here work for Microsoft and as such we cannot immediately diagnose an issue without needing further details.

Would you be able to provide additional information about the login issue you are having?

Thank you kindly for your understanding.
