Hi,

At our organization we use Microsoft Authenticator on mobile devices if we want to access our work emails (outlook) on mobile devices. We have two users who use iPhone and iPad and after they signed to Authenticator app and open Outlook they receive this error message on Outlook "Error Something went wrong 1001". We have deleted both apps and reinstalled, iOS is up to date, restarted devices. And we have tested on a different iPhone device and can successfully sign in to Outlook, so there is no issue with there Outlook accounts.

But it is still unknown why they can't sign in to Outlook on there own devices. They were able to before without any issues, just since yesterday they have received this error message. Any help on this?

    Hi there,

I had similar issue on the iPhone and here is how I resolved it.

After struggling for sometime, I found out there was a VPN app which the user installed on the device, since I didn't see a reason for the VPN app, I decided to disable it and "BOOM!" that fixed all the issues.

    Regards,

    DSK

What do you mean by "aides"?

I logged into Onedrive, then aides and logged out of all my accounts. Then I went back to Outlook, I was able to connect without the 1001 error. I guess this will help others with the same problem.

    Dear Mos,

    Good day!

Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

From your description, users are able to access when using different iPhone devices.

Adding to that, you can also check when using outlook on the web to see if there is any difference.

    https://outlook.office.com

Assuming that the users are able to access outlook on the web as well as outlook from different iPhone devices.

The issue can be related to the users iOS, or cache.

Seeing that have already check for the iOS update based on your description, I will recommend to directly contact our dedicated outlook for mobile support

Tap your profile photo and then the ? > Help & Feedback > Contact Support.

For reference: Get in-app help for Outlook for iOS and Android (microsoft.com)

Thank you for your kind understanding.

    Sincerely.

    Hi Mac,

Users are unable to get past that error screen so there is no way to "Tap your profile photo and then the ? > Help & Feedback > Contact Support."

Any other suggestions on help with this issue please?

Also to mention that all other apps are successfully enrolled in Intune on the same device and they work fine so the issue is just with Outlook (Same issue after re-installing the app, rebooting the device, un-enrolled from Intune, deleted all Microsoft apps and re-installed them all as a fresh option)

    Thanks

    Viorel
