Spam in hotmail account 2022

The junk e-mail filter does not appear to be working since the start of 2022. It’s like the full filtering has been turned off overnight. Junk that was normally not in my inbox is now coming in at dozens a day. I can’t seem to find a setting for filtering strictness in the settings either. Does anyone know what changed since 2022? I am seriously considering closing my account that I have been using since 1993.

Online descriptions of issues say that i can work with automatic filtering - my hotmail outlook doesnt even have a ribbon anymore! Can anyone help me? I cant keep blocking individually or using yhe blocked senders function because if the randomly generated domain names with each junk email.

Isthere away of only letting through safe senders?

Daz, what ever they say this is not as claimed a hacking issue. I have exactly the same problem and have had for about a week, same time line as you. Even if it was a hacking issue they would go into the junk mail box most of the time as the addresses would alert the system as bad. Instead for the first time on over 20 years i have 20-30 clearly spam/phishing/junk emails in my MAIN box. That's what we need help with, obvious spam/phishing should never get through the filter full stop.

It is now 2023 and my inbox is just completely full of spam. Over 100 message a day. It's been getting worse over the last week. My email address has not been leaked or hacked.

This is a Microsoft issue. Will this ever be resolved? I've stopped using my hotmail entirely and am switching everything to Gmail because this is beyond ridiculous.

I ask again, when is Microsoft going to fix this?

The problem died down for a while, but in the past few days it's back.

Yeah it's nuts. The craziest part is I pay for office 365... makes me feel like an idiot when I can literally use Google and not get a single spam but the incompetence with Microsoft is top notch regardless of how much you pay them but it's always been that way. It's so insane to imagine how much **** I have to change to migrate from my email at this point but this is seriously getting old. I wish they would just call google and ask them how to design a spam filter that works. All of the addresses and subjects are ridiculous.... you would think any decent filter could detect and filter. Microsoft support tells you to change filter settings to more aggressive but I don't see any settings other than blocking people I don't know which is useless. How many paid subscriptions does Microsoft have that this is acceptable for any duration? Crazy

Broken link.......like others I've noticed a huge uptick in spam since the middle of last year, from it being rare to dozens per day, mostly going straight to my inbox.

I can't block them (I've tried since the summer), as they come from different emails every time, even occasionally from my own email address!
