Cannot Add Trusted Location

The most recent Trusted Location threads that I can find on this forum are from 2011. Office seems to have added more behind-the-scenes layers that restrict my ability to use it.

I want to add a mapped network drive as a network location so that I can work in Macro-required documents on the drive. Currently they macros are blocked from working despite all of my Macro settings being enabled, and when I add the network drive as a Trusted Location a popup tells me that the action is restricted, despite having checked the "Allow Trusted Locations on my network (not recommended)" option.

Any workaround here? Registry edits or lambs to sacrifice?

    You can try adding a trusted location in the registry. An example screenshot is shown below:
