Turning an email into a task - updates

When I receive an email and want to turn it into a task, I create a task, give it a due date so I can follow up. I understand how to apply all those functions. The question I have is: Once the task is created and then I receive an updated email that is part of the original email chain with an updated request, I feel that I need to go back to the original task created, pull the drop down, and click Mark Complete. From there, I go to the new newest email from the email chain and create the new task to show the updated conversation associated with the task. Is there an easier way?

As an example: email comes in that states, "can you have the report completed on Tuesday in Excel?"

From there I create a task......

Then, later that day, I receive an updated email from the original email stating, "Actually, I would prefer to have the report completed in Word."

So I would need to go to the first task and click on Mark Complete so I could create a new task with the newest details.

Seems like you should be able to update tasks with email conversations without continuing to 'Mark Complete' only to establish a new task based on updated email information.

    Dear Paul,

    Good day!

Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are glad to assist.

Based on your description, I understand that you need to auto update tasks created from email conversations.

After thorough research and consults from my end, it’s been concluded this option is not yet feasible. We apologize if we are not able to meet your requirements; however, thank you for bringing this to our attention, we will surely raise you concerns to our Product Team and hopefully this can be included in the future updates.

In the meantime, I did find similar post in the feedback forum Update Tasks from Email Conversations or Link to Email Conversations · Community (microsoft.com). You can upvote or add a comment to push for this if it is in line with your requirement. Otherwise, you can as well raise a new entry in the forum on link Outlook · Community (microsoft.com) such that it can be considered for development by the product team.

I would also like to invite community members and MVPs in the forum to share their knowledge or any workaround and insight on this topic.

Thank you for your kind understanding.

    Best Regards,
