Importing Apple Reminders into my Outlook To Do list

Good morning,

I've been a long time iPad user but recently replaced my iPad mini with a Surface Pro 9.

I've got a large number of tasks in IoS Reminders which I'd like to import into my To Do and manage from here onwards on my Surface Pro. I could of course recreate each item in To Do but there are many of them & that would be very laborious. Is there anyway I can bulk import / convert the IoS Reminders?

The only thread I've found is one from 2018 which mentions a plan at some unspecified future date to synchronise the two but the thread has been closed with no indication as to whether that ever happened.

Thank you.

    Hi Kelly,

Thank you for the prompt reply, but there's a few issues with it for me unfortunately.

Firstly I'm not getting any 3 dot menu in the top-right corner of the Reminders app. I'm using an iPad mini running IoS 12.5.7. A quick look at the Apple user forum seems to suggest the inability to export Reminders tasks is a long running issue. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250646596?answerId=251357986022#251357986022

Here's a screenshot of Reminders on my iPad mini.

I've also looked at Reminders on iCloud & again can't see any way of exporting my tasks (screenshot attached, selecting 'Options' only allows a change of background colour.

Secondly, even if I can somehow get to export the Reminders I'm struggling to find whereabouts in the To Do app there is an "Import" option.

I should have added that I'm using a Surface Pro 9 which runs Windows 11, does this make a difference? I've attached a couple of screenshots; apologies in advance if I'm missing something very obvious but I'm afraid I just can't see whereabouts the "Import" option is.

    Thank you.

Hi, my name is Kelly, and I'm an independent consultant and I'm here to help.

There is a way to export your Apple Reminders and then import them into Microsoft To Do. Here are the steps:

    Exporting from Apple Reminders:

On your iOS device, open the Reminders app.

Tap on the list you want to export.

Tap on the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.

    Select "Share List".

    Choose "Export".

    Importing into Microsoft To Do:

On your Windows device, open the Microsoft To Do app.

Click on "Import" at the bottom-left corner of the app.

    Select "Import from Apple Reminders".

Click "Choose File" and select the exported file from your iOS device.

    Click "Import".

This should import all of your tasks from Apple Reminders into Microsoft To Do. I hope this helps!

I apologize for the confusion. It appears that my previous response was not entirely relevant to your issue with exporting and importing Reminders.

Regarding exporting Reminders from your iPad mini running iOS 12.5.7, it seems that the Reminders app does not have a built-in export feature. However, you may be able to use a third-party app or service that can sync with your Reminders data and provide an export function. One such app is "GoodTask 5," which can sync with Apple Reminders and has an export function. You can find more information about GoodTask 5 on the App Store.

Regarding importing Reminders into Microsoft To Do, the import function is not available on the Windows 11 version of the app. It is only available on the web version of Microsoft To Do. To import your Reminders from GoodTask 5, you can follow these steps:

Export your Reminders from GoodTask 5 in a compatible format (such as CSV).

Open Microsoft To Do in a web browser (https://to-do.microsoft.com).

Click on the ellipsis (...) in the sidebar menu and select "Import."

Select the file containing your exported Reminders and follow the prompts to import them into Microsoft To Do.

I hope this helps, and please let me know if you have any further questions or issues.

GoodTask 5 requires IoS 14 or above!!

I'll likely be passing an Apple Store in a few days time, I might take the iPad Mini in & see what they can do.

    Thanks
