Outlook on an older iPad?!

Anonymous

I have an older iPad, running iOS 12.5.6. I used to have my Hotmail email account connected to the apple mail app and all worked fine. I have just done a reset on the iPad and now when I try to choose outlook from the list of email providers I get a message saying the account cannot be verified. Is it now not possible to connect my email? Thanks

Yes I understand. About that, have you tried to remove and add the account first on the app? If yes and still the same error shows that it cannot be verified.

I suggest to try and login your account via website first at https://outlook.live.com just so we can confirm if you can still sign in. Also, if you have changed your password or have a 2 step authentication this might cause issue as well as to why it is showing the error that it cannot be verified.

Let us know how it goes on your end so we can try to help. I appreciate your patience and understanding.

    Thanks!

Hi! My name is Ben and hope you are doing well.

With regards to your issue, have you somehow tried removing your account from the mail app first and add it back?

This can be done via the Apple mail app settings. Or clearing the cache of the app by going to Settings > app > find the mail app and clear the cache might also work. After that, try adding your account back to the app. Here is the link as well for the steps how to set it up on the app https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/set-...

I hope the information above helps but let us know how it goes so we can further assist.

    Kind regards,

    Ben

Hi SnowfishUK! Thanks for getting back to us.

About that, possible that the interface and settings has changed after you reset your device. On that part, can you choose the option Outlook.com instead? After that, put your hotmail account and it shouldn't ask for a server settings.

It should connect automatically after choosing this but let us know here how it goes.

    Thanks!

Hi Ben, thanks for your reply. So, I reset my iPad so it is ‘as new’, and now I want to connect my hotmail to my apple mail app. In the past, this has been easy, by selecting the ‘outlook’ option. This no longer works.

I tried the link you sent, it says to use the ‘exchange’ option which I have just tried. However my screens are a little different and I am asked for a username and a server …. And don’t know what I should enter here?!
