Distribution Lists not appearing in Outlook Web Client for Owners

I'm trying to allow end users to manage the memberships of their Distribution Lists that are in the O365 system. Note these are specifically Distribution Lists, not groups.

The owners can edit the membership by using the Outlook desktop client on a windows system. But they cannot edit the members through the Outlook Web version. In the Outlook Web Version, both the Member and Owner options under Groups, show up empty.

I can search for the Distribution Lists in the Outlook Web client, and clicking on it shows the owners and members. But it does not provide an option to modify the membership through this either.

The "Member" option just displays "You haven't joined any groups yet", even though I'm the member to quite a few Distribution Groups.

Am I missing a setting somewhere to allow owners to see the Distribution Lists they own through the Outlook Web Client, so that they can manage the memberships?

I've verified that the "Azure Active Directory" - "Group Settings" - "Owners can manage group membership requests in the Access Panel" is set to yes.

    Dear Lionel Worman,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to assist you.

Based on your description, you want to know how to manage the distribution list as an owner in Outlook Web client.

For this issue, I did some research and test, please follow the steps below to edit your distribution lists:

    1. Login to your Outlook Web via https://outlook.office.com/.
    2. Click the Settings icon at the right-top corner. Click View All Outlook settings.
    3. Click General-Distribution groups. You will see the distribution lists which you belong to, and you own, like the screenshot below:

    1. Click Edit icon under the distribution groups you own, you will be able to manage the distribution list membership as an owner.

I hope the information above is useful for you. If there is any update or I misunderstand you, please feel free to let me know. I will continue to assist you. Your understanding and co-operation are highly appreciated.

Thanks for your precious time. Have a nice day!

    Sincerely,

    Sherry | Microsoft Community Moderator

Yes I see that new setup, and it does work. I'll just have to go back and update our instructions for it, but it does work.

    Thank you for the update.

    Hi Sherry,

Please see the screenshot, the distribution groups are moved to separate page where we can see our DL's list, could you confirm when they moved to separate page.

    Dear Lionel Worman,

I'm so glad that my information can help you on your issue!

Based on my understanding, since distribution group is more like an email address list, so it is not added to the "Group" option.

If you have any other query about Microsoft365 products in the future, please feel free to post in our community again, we will support you on your issues.

    Hope you everything well!

    Sincerely,

That is very helpful and does work, I did not know about that method.

I was just hoping to find a way to get the option to work, where users can click on the People, then Groups option in the Outlook window directly.

    Thanks again this helps!
