Sometimes, randomly, this icon will appear to the left of my message in the Sent folder, and the message is in bold, as if unread. Furthermore, if I forward that particular message, the time and date of the original message does not appear in the header of the new message.

    Dear Craig Attanasio,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

Based on your description, I understand that you have a query "What does the paper and pencil icon mean?" Before we proceed, we need more detailed information about the situation you are experiencing.

As far as I know, the paper with pencil icon in Microsoft Outlook represents a draft message. It indicates that the message is in a draft status and has not been sent yet. Once the message is sent, the icon will change to an envelope with lines to the left. However, this may be dependent of the outlook version.

Please help us in isolating the issue by providing the following information:

    1. What version of Outlook are you using? See What version of Outlook do I have? (microsoft.com)
    2. Could you please provide a screenshot for further checking?

We look forward to hearing from you; Please understand that our initial reply may not always immediately resolve the issue. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution. Thank you for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,

De Paul | Microsoft Community Moderator
