Using classic Outlook for Windows in business environments
I asked them and they said they clicked on the link and started a new account, which is why I cannot figure out why I have not gotten the bonus.

I referred a new customer to onedrive 3 months ago, but still have not seen the bonus 0.5 GB of storage. I have been trying to figure out what is taking so long. Is there any reason that this bonus would not be working??

Hi Ben,
As my daughter needed the space badly, I just removed 6 GB from her account as a workaround (so currently, only 3.2GB is used). As you can see in the screenshot, only 45 % of her reveral bonus was used, so that can't be the problem.
This is the link I used for my daughter:
https://onedrive.live.com?invref=dae728829179b9f6&invscr=90
And next, this button was clicked (sorry, all in Dutch):
What are we doing wrong?
So, here is the deal 🤣
Do me a favor and try to create a new OneDrive account with one of your e-mail addresses (or just create a new one) and check if you get that extra 0,5 GB for that account (and, 0,5 GB extra for my daughter in the process, he he he). If you (and my daughter) do not get that extra 0,5 GB, something is wrong and Microsoft needs to look into this or remove the option, if this is no longer valid…
I am sorry to say so, but it looks like it is not working anymore. My wife and daughter ran out of space, so for both we had two relatives create a new OneDrive account on my PC (so I watched the procedure and they did everything right, including solving that annoying puzzle 🤣).
Back in January, it worked just fine, but this time it did not work for both my wife and daughter and there was also no extra 0,5 GB added to the account of the relatives.
Furthermore, it may be a detail, but I noticed the link for the bonus changed, compared to January, In January it was
https://onedrive.live.com/?invref=....
and now it is
https://onedrive.live.com?invref=....
(notice the slash before the question mark)
Is this a bug?
Cheers,
Ray
Can you ask them as well if the 0.5gb is showing on their end? Because if they have done it right, it will be credited to both your accounts right away.
I tried to test it again by creating a new account and accepted the referral link that way using the test account and I can confirm that both accounts received the referral bonus.
Hi! My name is Ben a fellow member here in the community and hope you are doing well!
With regards to OneDrive referral bonus, the only thing I can think of as to why you are still not getting it is because the customer's you referred has used their own Microsoft account or created a Microsoft account outside the referral link you have sent.
It needs to be a new account, once you share the link to them they will get into this page where they will be asked to sign in with their Microsoft account or create a new one. They should choose create a new one so it will detect that they are new customers, if they sign in with their existing account meaning they are not new anymore and will not meet the criteria.
Note: For each friend who signs into OneDrive as a new customer, both you and your friend will receive an extra 0.5 GB of free storage (Max 10 GB)
I just tested it recently where I ask my friend to access my referral link and create a new account instead, it worked right away and we both got our 0.5 GB after he created a new account.
I hope the information helps somehow but feel free to ask if you have further questions and we will try with the best of our knowledge to assist.
Kind regards,
Ben
