Sync Issue Between Google Workspace and Outlook on Mac

Hi everyone,

I've been facing an issue with syncing my Google Workspace emails to Outlook on my Mac since last week (5th May). Here are the details:

  • Outlook version: 16.72.3
  • License: Microsoft 365 Subscription (activated)
  • Mac OS: 13.3.1 (a)

The problem is that new emails are not syncing to Outlook anymore, while I can still see them on the web. I've tried the following troubleshooting steps without success:

  • Recreating the profile, which only syncs old emails from before 5th May.
  • Reverting to the old look in Outlook.
  • Repairing Outlook databases by checking database integrity and creating a new Outlook.sqlite database.

As a last resort, I even uninstalled and reinstalled Office 365, but the issue remains.

If anyone has encountered a similar problem before or has any suggestions for a fix, I would greatly appreciate your insights.

Thank you in advance for your help!

    I have same issue.

However, when I tried switching back from "New Outlook" to "Old Outlook", my inbox synced with Google Workspace normally.

After fixing the issue, I tried switching back to "New Outlook" for testing purposes, but the inbox failed to sync again.

So I can confirm that the issue is coming from "New Outlook" interface.

Additionally, my calendar does sync properly.

I am using the new Outlook. There was an update on 17th May 2023 and I have applied that but the issue persists.

    Anything to resolve this issue?

    Hi Tammy,

I have previously attempted these steps, but unfortunately, they did not resolve the issue.

Currently, I can access emails on mail.google.com, but the synchronization with Outlook is not functioning correctly. additionally, although I am able to send emails successfully from Outlook, I am unable to receive any new emails.

    Regards,

    Dear Mahesswar Shri Mohanty,

Good day to you and thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Community.

As per the description you shared, I have a general understanding of your query, regarding the problem of Gmail account which is not syncing on Outlook for Mac. In general, this might be due to the Gmail settings, as Outlook need access to your folders in Gmail, so make sure that the folders are set to sync in IMAP. Once you've enabled IMAP in Gmail and set your Gmail folders to sync in IMAP, refresh Outlook. Or you can remove and readd account in Outlook for Mac after checking your Gmail settings and see if it makes any difference.

Kindly note thatit can take up to 15 minutes for syncing to refresh. After removing a Google account from Outlook for Mac using “Remove from all devices,” adding the same account back may take up to 24 hours.

See Fix problems connecting your Google account to the Microsoft Cloud - Microsoft Support.

Meanwhile, we understand how frustrating it is and sorry for your experience. If issue persists, since it only happened on the Outlook desktop side, but not server side, unlike Office 365 Exchange server which we could ask the related team to check on the backend for you, in this situation, we highly recommend you contact Outlook for Mac technical support, and they would be able to figure out the issue by collecting diagnostic data and checking on Outlook desktop app side. See Contact support within Outlook for Mac - Microsoft Support and contact them at your convenience. This would be the most efficient way in handling this case for you.

Thanks in advance for your understanding! Your patience and cooperation will be highly appreciated. Hope you all the best!

    Sincerely,

    Tammy | Microsoft Community Moderator.
