Switch from 'new' Outlook (2023) to 'classic' outlook

I need to go back to the Classic version because the 'new' Outlook lacks some features that I need for work.

This webpage https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/getting-started-with-the-new-outlook-for-windows-656bb8d9-5a60-49b2-a98b-ba7822bc7627 states "You can switch back whenever you want, just switch the toggle off in the new Outlook and it will automatically open the classic version."

There is no toggle. Is there any other way I can undo this update and go back to the previous version?

EDIT: Moved FROM Microsoft 365 Insider / Outlook / Windows TO Outlook / Outlook for Windows / For business.

Once flipped on, the toggle is irrelevant since the "old" version still exists. Just run it. You should still be able to find its shortcut in Start (and wherever else you might have had it before), but if not you will see outlook.exe in one of these places (may vary slightly depending on edition), so if necessary make a new shortcut:

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16

    or here:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16

The nice thing about the New Outlook is that it's not an either/or proposition (like New Teams is). You have both old and new. You can even run them concurrently.

But if running that actually runs New Outlook for you (some have reported that's the case), then either:

    1. Uninstall Outlook

    or

    1. run Regedit.exe and go here (or the same with 15.0, if you don't have 16.0):

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Preferences

And in that you will see UseNewOutlook

Set it to 0, which means that running old Outlook actually runs it.

As far as I know, you can't switch back. I have tried everything and nothing works. If there is anyone out there that knows how to switch, PLEASE let the rest of us know.

    Good morning, TSW_51.

Thanks for reaching out to our Microsoft Community Forum and please accept our sincerest hope that all is well.

From the description provided you would like to turn off "New Outlook" and go back to the "classic" Outlook. However, you do not see the toggle button that would allow you to do this.

This issue may have been caused by settings in Outlook that need to be changed. Or it may also be a problem the email account you are using with Outlook. So, let us work together as a team to get to the bottom of this. But to better assist you I need to ask:

    1. What version of Office are you using? Microsoft 365 Personal? Microsoft 365 Family? Office 2016? Office 2019? Office 2021? I specifically need the Product name and Version number as highlighted in the guide and photo below.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/about-office-what-version-of-office-am-i-using-932788b8-a3ce-44bf-bb09-e334518b8b19

    1. What email accounts have you added to Outlook? You don't have to tell me the actual email addresses. I just need to know if it's @Outlook.com or @Gmail.com or @Yahoo.com or something else.
    2. What email protocol are you using with the email account you added in Outlook? Post Office Protocol 3 (POP3)? Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP)? Microsoft Exchange? To know which protocol you’re using from Outlook, click the File tab, you’ll get a window similar to the photo below. The item highlighted in red is the protocol which in this case is IMAP.

    1. What version of Windows are you using? We specifically need the edition and version number of Windows your device is running. To find out which version of Windows your device is running, press the Windows logo key + R, type winver in the Open box, and then select OK. You'll get the window below and we need the information highlighted in red.

Hope to hear from you soon.

    Respectfully,
