Why is outlook suddenly opening a pop out window when i click on New Email???

I have had outlook 365 for years. Nothing on my end has changed. Suddenly (as of yesterday) every time i click on New Email a pop out window opens up (and the signature within my email is HUGE. About a 48 font yet the font showing is 12) This has never happened before and it is QUITE annoying. I have searched within the OPTIONS of Outlook and I cannot find anything with the option to open a pop out window when composing a new email. So there appears to be nothing for me to check/uncheck in this regard. As far as I know i have had no updates to Outlook that would have made this happen. Has anyone else had this happen and have you figured out how to stop it?????

First of all, I'm not sure what 'version' of Outlook you are speaking of, but there is no 'Gear" icon (for settings) in Outlook.

However, I do know how to look at 'compose messages' under options, and there is NO 'pop out replies and forwards' so this is not a solution.

Also, Turning 'off' the reading pane does nothing but turn OFF the reading pane. it has no bearing on the pop out window when composing new emails. So thanks, but both of your solutions do not apply.

FYI, the version of Outlook i am using is this

    Microsoft® Outlook® for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2304 Build 16.0.16327.20200) 64-bit

I was having the same issue but I found the solution. On the View tab go to Layout > reading pane and select bottom.

I was having the same issue but I found the solution. On the View tab go to Layout > reading pane and select bottom.

The View worked for me as well - changed it from Reading Pane - Right to Reading Pane Bottom - then switched it back to "right" and it stopped opening emails as I clicked on them.

Unfortunately that box is NOT checked. So once again, this is not the issue.
