Outlook with Office 365. cannot edit/add signatures. "e-Mail account" is greyed out

We've a user who raised an issue on his client, where they can see all their previous signatures as options, but cannot see them in the manage signature window.

They cannot add new ones, or edit the existing.

The "E-Mail account" field is blank, and cannot be selected.

So I tested same on our RDS server. issue is the same there for my account.

I can create new (and edit) signatures on Web Outlook, and they appear as available in the drop down in new messages, but I cannot access/edit them inside Outlook.

    • May I please know that you get same situation if you try to remove office registry key? to check this kindly check kindly Press the Windows key   R to open a Run window-->enter regedit and click **OK-->**Press CTRL F and enter 0006F03A-0000-0000-C000-000000000046 into the search box-->click Find Next-->Delete the key by right-clicking on the entry and click Delete-->Press F3 to repeat the search until no more registry keys are found then check if it will make any difference. Signature option does not open in outlook 2016 - Microsoft Community Hub
      • I will do this on the local client for testing. if that's successful I'll look to repeat it on the RDS server, but as the RDS server affects multiple users I'll want to be sure it's the answer before changing any HKML keys
        • I have removed all instances of above reg key, restarted outlook. and also tried outlook in safe mode. the issue persists.

Also, Group policy results on the client show no Outlook based policies in play at all.

    kia ora Inema.

    answers below:

    • May I please know your current environment? Is Hybrid exchange, On-Prem exchange (Server exchange) or pure cloud?
      • Exchange 365 cloud only (no on prem exchange)
    • May I please know if your IT department didn't set a Group Policy to stop users from adding/editing signatures?
      • there's no additional GP that has recently been made. My client (local) is part of the AD, and I can amend and create signatures here. the issue is present on one person's client, and on the RDS server at this stage. if it was GP related, I'd expect my experience local to be consistent with RDS server (it is not), unless it was a computer based policy. I will review the group policy results on the machine that the other user is on tho to confirm.

    • May I confirm that you get same behavior after creating new profile? Create an Outlook profile - Microsoft Support Please do not delete old profile to prevent the loss of your data.
      • I have created a new outlook profile and the issue persists. I did not create a new windows profile, but considering it's happening on the RDS server (new profile there) then it would appear to be machine specific rather than user based.
    • May I please confirm that your outlook is Updated? to check this kindly go to File-->Office Account-->Update Options-->Update Now
      • this was one of the first things I did.
    • Would you mind to kindly provide the screenshot of the outlook version are you using? Kindly go to File-->Office Account
      • the version is Office 365 apps for enterprise, but on the RDS server it does not show that (I'm thinking the 'multi user installation switch' has an impact on what's shown?)
