How to do OR or "any" condition in server-side rules in "New Outlook"

Hi all:

I recently switched to "New Outlook" on Mac OS (Mac OS 13.4, Outlook 16.74).

In "old Outlook," I had a lot of client-side rules. They often had a mix of "any" conditions -- if the sender is A, B, or C, OR the subject contains XYZ. (It's an OR condition because the criteria say, do this if any of the following conditions is true.)

I can't figure out how to do this in "new Outlook." Any time I add a condition the rule, it seems to be an AND condition:

Is there something I'm missing as to how to create these conditions in New Outlook server-side rules?

Thanks,

Steve Lane

Hi, I'm Diane and will be happy to help you today.

You aren't overlooking anything - it is a limitation of the new Outlook. Only server side rules are supported at this time. (and only in Microsoft 365 accounts.)

If the condition is the same - it is OR: from mary OR bob but if there are two different conditions, it is AND: from Mary AND wiith subject "Test".

Put together with the OR sample, it would be

From (mary OR bob) AND with subject "test".

If you need client-side rules, you need to use the legacy Outlook.

Yes, you need two rules - one for sender, one for subject.

Thanks, Diane, for the quick reply.

I have many client side rules of the form:

    (Sender is A or B or C or D or E)

    OR

(subject contains P or subject contains Q or subject contains R).

It appears that I need two server-side rules to do this now, is that correct?

    Thanks,

    Steve
