Unable to Switch Between Old Outlook and New Outlook

Hello,

I am on Windows 10 Enterprise Version 10.0.19044. I do not have admin access.

I was asked if I wanted to try "New Outlook" and agreed. I was told I'd be able to switch back to "Old Outlook" at any time. I am currently unable to find the way to switch back to "Old Outlook". The "New Outlook" has broken several of my rules and forced alphabetical sort on my subfolders. Thanks for any assistance.

    THis worked for me...

Toggling out of the new Outlook for Windows preview - Microsoft Support

If you toggled into the new Outlook for Windows preview from classic Outlook for Windows, every time you try to launch classic Outlook for Windows you'll be redirected to the new Outlook for Windows preview. You can go back to classic Outlook for Windows by selecting the toggle in the new Outlook for Windows app.

If for some reason you don’t see a toggle in the new Outlook for Windows, try these troubleshooting steps:

    1. Make sure you try to launch classic Outlook for Windows from the Windows Start Menu, not the new Outlook for Windows. The new Outlook for Windows has a “New” tag on its app icon. For classic Outlook, select the icon without a “New” tag.
    2. From the Windows Start Menu, type “Registry Editor” in the search box and select the Registry Editor app.
    3. Navigate to the following path: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Preferences
    4. Scroll to the bottom of the list to and double click on UseNewOutlook.
    5. Enter 0 in the Value Data field.
    6. Attempt to launch classic Outlook for Windows from the Windows Start Menu.

I managed to get the old look Outlook back.

1: Click on the start button

    2: Type Outlook

3: Open Outlook (This will be the desktop app and not the O365 connected app)

Then pin this to you taskbar or start menu.

This is a "Me Too" comment. Many of our end users have tried the new Outlook and then had to switch back to the Classic Outlook because the new one is missing features or functionality. When they switched back, everyone has reported that at least some of their Rules are broken.

    Microsoft, please address this issue.

I had this problem today. Many functions are gone or hard to find with the 'New' Outlook. Setting email follow-up date/time doesn't exist. Sending to OneNote, even though I set it, doesn't appear as an option in the email. These are critical, daily functions for me. The fact that MS removed the toggle is really something...and with the word 'Try' there...it should save Convert.

I found a way to get back, at least for me.

    • Shutdown Outlook
    • Go to Start menu and nav to where you see Outlook and Outlook (new)
    • Right-click on Outlook (new), then look for Uninstall
    • Click Uninstall

You may not see any confirmation, as that was my experience.

Never touch that toggle again!! OMG - Shame on MS

I have the same issue. I had switched back to classic outlook previously.

Today the New version was again made the default. There is no button to switch back. when running the classic outlook app the new one still launches.

I am open to new software but...

    1. Need to be able to snooze things for more that the new default 5 mins to 2hrs
    2. Cant open messages saved in the .msg format.
    3. Doesn't appear to open a outlook data file created in prior version.
    4. Appears we have spell check is broken when composing an email with the new email docked inside the main UI. The right click action isn't working. If you pop open the email then spell check then the right click action works properly.
    5. I have to say the dialog for moving a file to another location is lacking. Search doesn't work well and the appearance of items in the list requires way more attention than it should.
    6. In the reminders window, I can't select multiple items. I have to dismiss each one separately.
