Contact Search with Name Badge Search ① first or last name ② organization level number from Top of country responsible?

Anonymous

In meeting for:

  1. same level of organization
  2. from different continents:

Name badge has following information:

  1. Jo
  2. Canada

Because Title is not there, my CFO guessed Title is same as his but CFO but does not exist in continent under Jo.

is it possible to search using following:

  1. Jo
  2. 3 (which is organization level from top of country responsible for)

Otherwise, how to search with Name Badge on someone who attends meeting from a different continent?

THE PAIN POINTS I WENT THRU:

Given

  1. Partial First Name
  2. Title which shows country (responsibility rather than location)

After using Title as search, I am now confident Title is wrong for John because no search result come close to First Name; above took time but how to proceed? I thought country shown in title is usable not entirely true because he is located in USA not Canada.

I proceeded with searching:

Name = Jo

Country = USA

After find none in USA, I changed my search to

Name = Jo

Country =Canada

and browsed for organization level using my judgement.

I would appreciate if my search can be:

Name = Jo

Country =North America or

Country Responsibility =Canada

and browsed for organization level using my judgement.

PAIN POINTS when limited to wildcard search:

  1. Outlook search result does not show Names, Country and Title w/o more clicking/scrolling.
  2. Company Name is not useful when its name is not known ahead of time.
  3. Title showing Country is misleading when Contact is located elsewhere. (Canada in title but he is located in US),
  4. United States cannot be found using "USA"

**IMHO, in the very least, how to customize Outlook intelligence on search by country? I can only find contact using "**United States"

Why not:

  1. "North America"
  2. "US"
  3. "USA"
  4. "United States of America"?

After above steps, I am guessing John is the answer because of his

  1. FIrst Name partially matched
  2. Location matched by fiddling with Country Names
  3. Organization level by judgement call.

    Hello panes-rubic,

    Thank you for your reply and great effort!

    I've read your requirement carefully. I investigated the "Who bot" in Teams. Actually it is an app intergrated in Teams. It needs to be added before the functionality is available. It is basically an AI-based application which can answer your queries regarding contacts information. "Who bot" cannot be used on To field or Body field as per my test results. You may try to add the "Who" app on your Teams and try to type some questions with keyword in it. Hence you may find people with information of "Title" or "Country".

    Thank you for your patience and professional cooperation on this case! Feel free to reply us if you need further assistance!

    Thanks Eleni, install of Who App requires approval probably due to security and privacy concerns. I am waiting for it.

    On the other hand, will it solve my need to search for a Name Badge of which information is:

    1. In meeting for:
      1. same level of organization
      2. from different continents:
      Name badge has following information:
      1. Jo

      1. Jo
      2. 3 (which is organization level from top of country responsible for)
      Otherwise, how to search with Name Badge on someone who attends meeting from a different continent?

    I need help to understand if Who App allows non-admin user to:

    1. add intelligence to by end user.
    2. example of intelligence as follows:
      1. country responsibility
      2. organization level or band

    Otherwise, search for a contact, requires my Executive front load me right combination of information which requires too much effort because he got his information a Name Badge (on a participant in meeting) which has limited information as follows:

    1. name partially correct such as John
    2. Text under name has only Country; without Title, my manager off-handedly assumes Title equivalent to the Organization Band in his continent; so the Organization Band is correct but Title is not.

    How to search in my case?

    Since my Manager use Team Chat to send me names, the better solution is Name Chat in Teams Body field

    My post to Microsoft Teams App as follows

    After more exploration, am I correct Who bot is intended for To-Field not Body-Field? what I wish is Who bot is also intended for Body-Field.

    USE CASE: To Field is not where Who bot is needed.

    Manager in hurry sends subordinate partial Name and Title of stranger (but colleague) in a party; subordinate need Full Names. To Field is not where Who bot is needed.

    Hello panes-rubic,

    Greetings!
    Thank you for posting on Microsoft Community!

    I understand that your query is to type "Name + Title" in the body of an email message, and right click it, using "Who Is..." option to quickly search for contacts or people in Outlook.

    I've done multiple tests at my lab for you and here is the result:

    When I just type a Name in an email message and right click it to trigger the "Who Is...", If we have more than one in our Address Book, the Check Names dialog box will appear where we must select the Contact that we want and then press the Ok button. The selected Contacts Name will be displayed.

    Hence we recommend you to use the Search Contacts box to search for contacts by filtering "Title, Names, addresses, company names", and more.

    1) You may press Ctrl+E to launch Advanced Find on Outlook, under "Advanced" tab, select "Contacts" in the drop-down list:

    Thank you for your time and cooperation. Wish you have a nice day!

    Thanks Eleni for showing so much information.

    However, my use case is searching contact with non-exact criterion which is a superset of wildcard.

    Example:

    Internal contact to find with Partial Criterion:

    Name = Jo

    Title = Accounting of Canada

    Company = ?

    After using Title as search, I am now confident Title is wrong for John because no search result come close to First Name; above took time but how to proceed with

    Name = Jon

    Country = USA

    Would you show me your steps?

    PAIN POINTS when limited to wildcard search:

    1. Outlook search result does not show Names, Country and Title w/o more clicking/scrolling.
    2. Company Name is not useful when its name is not known ahead of time.
    3. Title showing Country is misleading when Contact is located elsewhere. (Canada in title but he is located in US),

The selected Contacts Name will be displayed.

    If I type "Name+Title" e.g. Tony, engineer, the expected user in the result of Check Names box can be found among multiple users.

    In conclusion, based on my test, in some occasions, you can search for the contact by typing "Name, Title" in an email body with "Who Is..." option and the results might come out.

    However the precise search result may not appear sometimes when using a combination of fields such as name and title.

    Hence we recommend you to use the Search Contacts box to search for contacts by filtering "Title, Names, addresses, company names", and more.

    1. You may press Ctrl+E to launch Advanced Find on Outlook, under "Advanced" tab, select "Contacts" in the drop-down list:

    1. Define Field based on "Name" or "Title" fields to narrow your search:

    There are many other options available there, e.g. addresses, company names, City, Phone number...

    If the above mentioned infromation could not address your concern, feel free to reply. We will continue to support you.

    Thank you for your time and cooperation. Wish you have a nice day!
