Image size in Outlook Client too big

I'm using Outlook as my Email Client (Microsoft® Outlook® for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2307 Build 16.0.16626.20170) 64-bit). I regularly receive emails where the display of the images in the email are huge relative to the display window. This causes the embedded email message to have huge margins and essentially become unreadable.

I use Outlook on my phone (Android) and don't have this problem. If I use the web version (go to outlook.com), I don't have this problem. It's tied to the Outlook for Windows version and seems to have started a few months back.

This essentially makes some of my emails unreadable, and I want to read them. Are there any settings on my email client that I can set to have images that I receive from others not blow up my display?

Thanks

-jim

    Amazing isn't it, this software has been in development for more than 26 years. And it's still, even now, in 2023, a pile of damn junk. Honestly, what the hell is wrong with Microsoft? Everything they make is utter junk. I think they should rename the company MicroJank, to reflect the quality of their bloody awful collection of jank software.

    I've had this same issue with at least one particular email that I subscribe to. If I look at the same email on my phone, the photos resize to fit the width of the screen. In Outlook, they are huge and I can't see what they are. Clearly the sender is using large format photos, but there's got to be a setting to autosize in Outlook. I looked for that Auto Resize option as well and it's not there.

    To be clear, this is for email that I'm Receiving, not that I'm sending. These emails display in my reading pane like this:

    I'd rather the displayed in a fashion that I can read them in. And this is not only message that displays that way.

    I looked for the suggested option:

    You can turn off this feature by going to File > Options > Mail > Compose messages > Editor Options > Advanced > Display email content. Then, uncheck the box that says "Automatically resize pictures to fit the message window" and click OK.

    but that option doesn't exist. Zooming doesn't work. This looks like a bug in the Outlook Client that I'm using.

    we are trying to use (new) signatures with an embedded image (logo) and old & new outlook (clients, not web or android).

    issues arise when an email is sent & replied to, from original recipient. The incoming image is enlarged approximately 500% or more.

    The image can also be enlarged when original sender, replies to a reply.

    @SOLA your 3rd option instructions are only for OLD OUTLOOK, do you have any info for the NEW outlook?

    @MICROSOFT please figure this out.

    I am having the same issue with incoming messages. The oversized images make the emails unreadable. As jim says above, this started a few months ago. Please look into this! Thank you! Jen
