How can I disable the pop up shortcut icons that appear in my email list when trying to select a message?

I am constantly deleting or performing other unintended actions when trying to select an email because of the little pop up shortcuts that appear when you go to select an email message. I cannot find a setting to turn these off.

Using an iPad with a touchpad this happens ALL the time. It is not an issue when touching the screen of the iPad, but when using a mouse or touchpad as soon as you hover over the email then go to click it the shortcut icons pop up and you just accidentally deleted the email you were trying to read.

Incredibly frustrating.

    Hi Jeremy W1,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community

As per checking the shared information that you're experiencing issues with the pop-up shortcut icons on Outlook for iOS. Just a heads up that with this kind of issue that you have, our option is limited and we can only perform basic troubleshooting steps.

To disable the pop-up shortcut icons in Outlook for iOS, please follow these steps:

    1. Open the Outlook app on your iPad.
    2. Tap on the "Settings" icon in the bottom right corner of the screen.
    3. Scroll down and tap on "Swipe Options."
    4. Toggle off the "Swipe Actions" option.

You can also try this steps:

    • Disable the keyboard touch bar: If you’re using an iPad with a touchpad, you can try disabling the keyboard touch bar. To do this, go to Settings > General > Keyboard and turn off the Shortcuts and Predictive options.
    • Turn off tap to click: If you’re using a mouse or touchpad, you can try turning off the Tap to Click feature. To do this, go to Settings > General > Trackpad and toggle the Tap to Click switch to the OFF position.

This should disable the pop-up shortcut icons when selecting an email message.

Let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

    Thank you
