Dotted border around calendar invites

Hi!

I use a combination of the Outlook app (Windows) and Outlook web (Chrome) when setting up calendar invites and I've noticed that when I set up invites in the Outlook app calendar that the Outlook web calendar puts a dotted border around them like they're tentative. These are all invites I've accepted, or just blocked time in my own calendar with nothing to be accepted.

The only solution I've found is to remake the invite in Outlook web, but I've never had this issue before and wondering if there's a fix to let me use both.

Thanks,

Elizabeth

    Hello Elizabeth,

    Sorry for the delayed response.

After thorough tests and consults from my end, this looks to be a design behavior. Pretty sure it might not be what you wanted to hear but this should not affect invites that you have been invited to and accepted i.e., the dotted lines shouldn't appear on accepted invites. If they are, please let me know.

If you don't mind, you can provide feedback on this feature by creating a new post in the Feedback Portal at Outlook · Community (microsoft.com) and the product team will look into the suggestion.

Your kind understanding is highly appreciated.

    Best Regards,

    Ashraf.

    Hi Ashraf,

The issue affects events regardless of whether I mark them as busy or free and my Outlook version is V2306. I've included an example below with the web version on the left and Outlook app on the right where one of the invites I've added to my calendar shows as free but with the tentative dotted lines around it.

I've just tried repairing the app which doesn't seem to have worked. I will try to run a scan but this is a work account so will likely need IT permission to run it.

    Thanks,

    Elizabeth

    Hello Elizabeth,

Good day and thank you for reaching out to Microsoft community.

Just to make sure we're on the same page, kindly verify for me the following. Thanks in advance.

    >>when I set up invites in the Outlook app calendar that the Outlook web calendar puts a dotted border around them like they're tentative<<. You are logged into both the outlook app and outlook on the web with the same account >Create an invite in the outlook app which in turn reflects in Outlook on the web >The outlook app shows the invite as busy (which is default), while the outlook web shows as tentative?

    • Does this persist if you choose to set up another option to "Show as" when creating the meeting? Could be Free or Out of office?
    • What is the outlook version you are using? (File >Office Account >About Outlook).

If both are true, you may scan your Outlook by following these guidelines provided in Scan by using Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant - Outlook | Microsoft Docs. This will report any known problems and details about your Microsoft Outlook configuration

You may also try to repair your Outlook application using steps in Repair an Office application and check if there is any difference. (Right-click the Start button  and select Apps and Features on the pop-up menu >Select the Microsoft Office product you want to repair (Outlook or M365 apps for Enterprise) and select Modify).

    Looking forward to your response.

    Best Regards,

    Ashraf.
