With the new Outlook for Windows 11 , which is also mentioned in this blog post I am not able to add an Exchange ActiveSync account. This was possible to do with the previous version of Outlook for Windows.

Is this ever going to be supported in the new Outlook for Windows 11?

Thank you.

No, the use of the EAS protocol is not supported and also won't be added. It was available in previous versions of Outlook (2013) to support the old Hotmail/Outlook.com infrastructure but since that has been switched to the Exchange Online infrastructure, EAS support within Outlook has been deprecated in later versions (2016) and even completely removed in current versions.

Which provider are you using which requires you to use the EAS protocol?

Note that the Classic Outlook for Windows doesn't use the EAS protocol to connect to Exchange either but a "regular" Exchange connection.

Currently, the New Outlook only supports Exchange Online and Outlook.com as Exchange mailbox providers. Support for On-Premise Exchange or other hosted Exchange services will be added later.

Typical Microsoft. release a product that doesn't even support their own on prem Exchange. Absolutely ridiculous. Not everyone wants to be cloud first. Considering the minimal differences between exchange online and on prem a wrong decision. of course most people don't use the barbone outlook store app. But releasing it without even on prem exchange support is ridiculous, it shows yet again that Microsoft is trying to force the cloud to people. I wished the EU would slap you guys with yet another huge fine. You never learn.

It is now October 23 2013 and Windows 11 is forcing the switch to the new Outlook. The built in Mail program is no longer available on our Windows 11 computers. How can we connect to out On Premise Exchange server for remote connections. The built in Mail account supports EAS and the new Outlook does not, so we have no client except for OWA for our remote email clients.

I have taken my computer back a month with a Disk Image and then disabled Windows Update so that I can get my mail.

    PLEASE HELP

Thanks Robert Sparmaaji for your answer to EAS protocol!
I want to use my reply to say: It is a great shame that Microsoft is not adopting the protocol because many companies sometimes need decades to incorporate innovations. That's how it is with us too. We are currently tied to EAS through our ERP provider. Almost all email clients on Android and iOS are support EAS. There is still Thunderbird on Windows, but it will do you more harm in the long term to ignore your past with every step forward instead of taking the past (EAS) with you.

I like Microsoft a LOT, but it's getting harder and harder to stick with you when everything is constantly being crushed (Windows Mobile, Windows Subsystem for Android, EAS, ...)

    Best regards, Christoph

    Hello

I’m Adeyemi and I’d be happy to help you with your question.

The new Outlook for Windows 11 does not support Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) accounts. This is a change from previous versions of Outlook, which did support EAS.

However, Windows 11 has a built-in Mail and Calendar app that supports all the common email protocols, including POP3, IMAP, and Exchange ActiveSync (EAS). So you might be able to use this app as an alternative.

As for whether EAS support will be added to the new Outlook for Windows 11 in the future, I couldn't find any official information from Microsoft stating their plans on this. You might want to provide feedback to Microsoft about this feature through their feedback portal.

    I hope this helps
